Hi guys,

I had a notion that I would mess this up and I did. My rifle is mostly Armalite with an extendable stock and a flat upper. The rear sling mount is on the bottom of the butt and is totally fixed. The front mount is part of the gas block and travels a little front to rear, but that's it. I also purchased a Troy 2 point sling.

My goal is to set it up so it can be shoulder slung in the traditional marching manner AND to be able to carry it in a ready position across my chest. I guess you would call that a "patrol" carry.

I am looking for suggestions on sling mounts. The "stock" configuration is obviously not going to work, but the array of types and shapes and configurations of sling mounts has me almost overwhelmed. I sure do need to advice. Photos and slings for dummies would be appreciated.

Thank you

Do you have standard handguards or a railed forearm?

An old popular option used to be the GG&G sling thing sling adapters on the stock and front sight base.

You could also use one of the Midwest Industries Endplate Sling Adapters that go over/around the castle nut.

You could replace the regular endplate with one that provides an attachment point. Some popular options are ikickhippies SLAP, Magpul ASAP, Noveske QD Endplate, Gear Sector sling mounts.

If you have a railed handguard, there are a plethora of sling mounts. Some options are: Magpul RSA, Midwest Industries Front Sling Adapters, Gear Sector Picatinny rail mounts.
