Eotech 511 Issue? - - - UPDATE in Original Post
I got an Eotech 511 non-NV made in June 2003 of which I am the orginal owner.
I don't know if I have an issue but for the first time today, I noticed a very slight haze all the way around the rear glass window. It's not even as on the bottom is kind of arches up. The glass is clean so it definitely on the inside. The recticle appears fine and doesn't wash out, but it is slightly blurry when it gets into the areas where it's hazy.
I've tried to take pics, even on Macro, but can't get it to show up.
Anyone else have a similar issue?
I'm thinking about calling Eotech in the morning but being out of warranty I really don't want to send it in if it's not an issue.
***UPDATE*** come home today from work, wife saw that I had my 511 boxed and ready to go back to Eotech for repairs. Found another box sitting next to it. Told me to open it and found a brand new Eotech XPS-2!!! Apparently she felt bad she didn't get me an anniversary present a few weeks ago. Anyway, got a used 511 that works despite the issue with the rear lens, if anyone is looking for one for a .22 or other project. Now to site the new one in!
Contact Eotech, could be your HUD delaminating around the edges.

Tomac, not what I wanted to hear but that's what I'm thinking too. It's kind of a rainbowish tint and definitely on the inside.
Anyone ever have experience with Eotech CS on a repair like this, especially this old and out of warranty?

I've heard good things about Eotech's CS, they may or may not charge you $79 for an out-of-warranty repair.

Well, the good / bad news.
Eotech CS seems to think it did delaminate. It is repairable at a cost of $ 159 which includes completely refurbishing up to Rev F standards (mine is prior to).
Now the big question, is it worth it or should I start looking at other optic options?
I would have it repaired there really aren't too many options for 159 dollars as far as optics go and they'll probably give a warranty on the repair.
Yeah but take that $159 & sell the 511 on Ebay for $150, & then you got $300 towards a newer XPS Eotech. Which I think it the better deal for you. The 511 is known to be a battery hog & is 9 years old.

This. Even a 512 would be a big improvement.

This. My 512 has been back to the factory twice for the delamination issue.

Ouch. What if anything did it cost you and how long between trips?

Didn't cost a damn thing (except for one-way shipping). L3 fixed both examples, outside of warranty, free of charge. Their customer service is awesome. In both cases turn around time was less than 2 weeks.
Mind you, I haven't exactly been nice to my 512. Over the last 5 years, It has seen over 15,000 rounds between .223 and .308. The protective hood is all chewed up from being dropped on concrete multiple times. Most of the time, it lives in the trunk of my car where it sees the hot/cold temprature extremes we have here in the midwest.
Still, next time I'm buying an Aimpoint. Too many examples of Eotech failures out on the internet.
They are going to phase the 512 out they told me. I had 3 & never had a problem with them but replaced 1 with the Exps. It's a much better overall optic in terms of size & reliability.
