Magpul PTS = Magpul Professional Training & Simulation

I own MBUS from both Magpul and the cheap PTS knockoffs (got on Ebay listed as real for $30 less than the real deal - they do say Magpul on them so beware of what & where you are buying).

The PTS sights are functional, but the plastic is inferior. Depressing the side lever rather than the middle to activate the flip-up just bends and nothing happens on the knock-offs where the real Magpul is much stronger and rigid. The sight adjustment tool that came with them broke all four prongs the first time I used it. The cross bolt to tighten the rear sight also stripped out at less than "tight". The spring is stout and comparable to the real deal. The finish is not quite as matte textured and gives off slightly more shine than real Magpul sights. Logos and molds look identical otherwise.

An easy way to tell them apart is Magpul MBUS uses blue thread locker on the cross bolt, where the Chinese PTS knock-off didn't use anything. They also gave off a strong plastic chemical smell that the Magpul OEM didn't.

For non-critical parts like an AFG the PTS crap will be fine, or the sights will work if only used on a plinker/trainer .22, but I wouldn't trust them for hard use or self-defense use at all.

PTS builds licensed Magpul replicas and all of them are labeled "PTS" both on the packaging and the item itself. While of high quality for its intended use (airsoft), PTS products should never be used on real-steel guns.

Additionally, there are also pure Chinese counterfeits of many of our goods. Some, such as the MBUS, have over a half-dozen unique knockoffs...
