I sighted in my scope at 100 yd. with the 62 gr M855 ammo that my turrets are calibrated to, no problems. Now I want to set the knobs at "0". I loosened the 3 sets screws on each knob, aligned my hash with "0" and retightened.
Now, the elevation knob will only lower one click below "0"where it comes to a firm stop. It will elevate one complete revolution to "28" where it comes to a firm stop. The windage knob will rotate more than one complete revolution.
Is there a zero stop built in to the elevation knob or did I just get lucky and sight in the the very bottom on my elevation adjustment? What if I change ammo and need to lower my POI, what do I do?

It has a zero stop. You'll have to reset the turret if you want to go lower.

Thanks, I did some research and came to that conclusion. Interestingly, nothing I got from Leupold with the scope mentions anything about a zero stop. Nothing in the manual at all. Apparently, some M2's don't have one and some do according to some posts on Sniper's Hide.

I have the same glass as you. I zeroed my rifle at 100 yards and then dialed down 1 MOA. I set the caps at 1MOA low and tightened the set screws. Then dial up 1 MOA to your zero and you now have the flexibility of dialing down 1 minute or up 27 minutes. Just remember that if you need to return to zero quickly, bottom out your elevation and then dial up 2 clicks.
