just acquired an tan 553 of the EE. upon turning it on to checking function i noticed the reticle seems to get dimmer/almost disappear in the lower left portion of the HALO window, but on the right 1/2 its at its normal brightness, its like there a leak or something? can anyone tell me what is wrong with this sight? ill try to get some pics up soon. its hard to describe. it is out of warranty and the seller claims there is nothing wrong with the sight. ive owned several eotechs and can tell you, this is not normal. what should i do?

Did you get it from a guy in Georgia by any chance? I can't remember his name but I made an awful deal with him (my Aimpoint PRO plus cash) which is cool and all because i like the EOTech better anyways so its whatever. I got the optic however and it had the same issue (he claimed new but it was made in 2004 and just had never been used). He had bought a bunch of them on ebay so i am sure he got a good price and i don't know if he knew they were like that or not. Anyways I contacted him about it and he contacted EOTech and called me and said that the person at EOTech said they could possibly be stolen bc they are the SU-231 marked optics (black) so i wanted to exchange back but he was telling me that it would be illegal for me to send it back to him if it was in fact stolen. Anyways... same issue and it pissed me off so i figured if i sent it in and it was stolen it would go back to where it needed to go (it was useless to me anyways) and if it wasn't i would get it back and it would be better.

I contacted EOTech.. sent it in and it was back in about two weeks doing well. It still kinda faded a little in the bottom right for me but it was in significant enough to where it didn't affect the functionality. You are going to have to send it off and if the guy lives in GA let me know what his screen name is bc he has a bunch of them and he said they were all doing that and he is selling bad equipment and it needs to be brought out. i didn't do it but if he isn't going to correct the problem it needs to happen

I had an issue with my 556 that it was very bright in the middle then slightly less bright toward the edges. It wasn't very obvious but enough to bug me. I called eotech and before i completed my sentence the gentleman explained that he knew what my issue was. He said the nitrogen had leaked from the scope and that it would continue to get dimmer as time went on unless i sent it back. This was just last week.

My 556 was made in Sept of 2009. Despite it being out of warranty he immediately told me that it was new enough to not be having this issue and sent me a RMA number immediately and let me know there would be no cost associated with the repair outside of shipping. I sent it last Friday and they received it Monday.

I would expect you are experiencing the same. I'd call Eotech, I have experienced nothing short of stellar communication and great customer service from them so far.
