This might seem like a dumb ? But here goes, when mounting my rings directly to the rail, what side do the 1/2 bolts go on the ejection side or the safety side,? I seen pics with either side , I am leaning towards installing them on the safety side because I wouldnt want it to interfere with ejection or am I just over thinking this? I'm a right handed shooter if that matters

I always put mine on the left side of the gun. Whats more important is if your rings have a flat spot on the recoil lug (bottom of the ring) that needs to but up against the rear side of the rail. In other words, always push the ring forward in the rail slot, when you tighten it down.

I never even thought of it before. I always tighten everything down on the left. Not sure why. I must have learned it sometime in the past and don't even remember it. Maybe because I'm right handed and I will hold my accessories with my right hand and HAVE TO tighten them with my left hand.

I started out with an M1 .30 Carbine, and then a Mini-14 before graduating to AR's. In the old days, I put the heads on the left, so I didn't grab one instead of the charging handle under stress. Man, I miss that .30 Carbine...

But yes, most importantly get that ring forward in the slot. Try and borrow a torque screwdriver, too.
