red and green ACOGS
So what's the difference between the two besides the color?
It's just a color preference. There are many different types of ACOGs (each being different) and most all of them have reticle color options (color is a preference). I like green myself.
This page shows all the different model ACOGs, lists their specs and color options.
Color is the only difference. I prefer green and I have not found it to 'bloom' under direct sunlight here in AZ.
The green seems like it blooms less to me too.
I like green for the J reticle. I like red for the H reticle.
The red seems to "pop" more for me. This is great for quick shots. For accuracy, green seems to be less of a distraction. Less pop.
Well I am thinking of getting a red one. For two reasons. One because I love my eotechs and the second because its my favorit color lol
Green ones are far more accurate, just like FDE SCARs and FDE Glocks.
ACOG's must be a bitch if you have a red/green color deficiency?
^^ I have wondered about that myself, but then I thought:
While the color may be off, it is emitting light so it isn't like those colorblind tests.
It's more like a stop light for colorblind people. The light still stands out against the background, but the color is screwy so they have to go by light position rather than color.
So I'd guess it would still stand out ok in an ACOG..... they just couldn't tell you which one it is.
Then again maybe I'm full of shit

I have the red/green thing going on and while ive never actually looked through a green acog, ive fired a meric fuckton of rounds through red ta31m4 rcos (personal and gov) and its never bothered or hindered me in the slightest in any lighting, climate, location, or circumstance. Red/green color deficiency is NOT what most people think it is. I see colors just fine, its just that damned test that trips me up every time.

I have a green TA31HG-DE on my FDE Scar and have been able to shoot a pin out of the hand of a man standing on the surface of the moon... twice.

I've heard similar reports from my Green Beret contacts in Ranger Delta Team 6.
