How waterproof is a Trijicon TR22-2: AccuPoint supposed to be?

Because I was using mine in a rifle course this past weekend, and while we had rain it was not pouring down.

The rear lens failed spectacularly by fogging internally to the point of completely obscuring the cross hairs.

So is that the quality of Trijicon's higher powered optics? The glass clarity is astounding and the reticule illumination is top of the line,
but that does not help much if you can not see through the $*!% thing after one light shower.

I sent it back with the supplied "Return Authorization" and haven't heard anything back yet.

Never had one, but every other Trij product I have owned was great. Everyone makes lemons from time to time. Lets hear about how they handle it.

This.

There must be a problem. It should be tight as a duck's butt.

I'd guess they would fix that shiz ASAP with little to no headaches.

They might even ship you a BNIB model. They've been known to do that, as have Aimpoint and Eotech.

I don't own one, but I have read multiple reports of Accupoint scopes filling with water during rainy conditions.

Waterproof is waterproof, otherwise it's water-resistant, which is marketing-speak for "leaks like a sieve". A good friend purchased waterproof 5.11 boots that leaked, and was told by 5.11 customer service when he called in that "they are waterproof until they are not".

You did the right thing by sending it in.

i also have seen more than a couple reports of accupoints having trouble with rain. i am about to send mine in because the reticle is canted.

Makes me think i should leave it out during a rainy day, to test it...before shipping it off.

Well the scope came back. The brief work order included with the package mentioned, cleaning, replacing the eyepiece, and re-purging with nitrogen.

Well I guess we wait and see if it stays fixed.

Still it is good to know I have a Aimpoint T-1 QD for a backup now. It claims to be waterproof down to 13 meters a little rain will just wash the dust off it.
