I just picked up a matech BUIS. I remember reading zero instructions for this BUIS a while back. Correct me if Im wrong, but you set the sight to the line between 300 and 400 meters and zero a 50 meters. Is this correct?

yep, you are correct, though the colt manual says zero at 25m with m855.

My range starts at 50 though, that's what I did.

300 for 14.5" and 16" barrels, 350 for 20" models.

I have a 14.4" barrel. So I set the sight to to 300 meters or set it to the line between 300 and 400 meters and zero at 300 meters?

Or, you can set it to 200 and zero at 50, since they'll be the same. IBZ

Thanks.

I zeroed mine (16" M4) on the "300" setting at 25M.

Matech BUIS Zeroing Instructions

M4/M4A1 Carbine – To zero the M4/M4A Carbine, turn the range knob until the line on the sight cam on the left side is aligned with the 300 meter mark. Use the 25 meter zero target for the M4 Carbine and center your rounds by adjusting the weapon front sight post and BUIS windage adjustment knob.

To zero the M16A4 rifle – To zero the M16A4 Rifle, turn the range knob until the line on the sight cam on the left side is aligned with the white line between the 300 and 400 meter marks. This mark is a half notch location, so it’s more difficult to align. Use the 25 meter zero target for the M16A2/M16A4 Rifle and center your rounds by adjusting the weapon front sight post and BUIS windage adjustment knob.

I'd put PDFs of the two targets here if I knew how to insert/attach a PDF to a reply.

These instructions are right of the page included in the little bag the Matechs are supplied in.
