I have an RRA with flat-top and no quad rail. I want some kind of side mount to put on my top mount for my laser or flash light. I saw one and that is made by yankee hill machine. it is an angle mount. but there is one part that I do not understand. it claims that it will mount on to a picatinny rail then laser or flashlight can mount on ut's dovetail.
what is the differences between a dovetail and a picatinny rail? I asked yankee hill and they told me that they are the same. but I found out that some people prefers dovetail over picatinny. if that is the case then there is a difference between the two. what are they?

please help

The rail on your receiver and both rails on the YHM angle mount are all Picatinny. Picatinny and dovetail are not the same. You will not see anyone using dovetail accessories on AR-15s.
