 Good low end holographic sight

I am considering buying a good low-end holographic sight to mount. The maximum price that I am willing to pay would be right around $300, but I would really prefer to find one cheaper. I know that there is the cheapest EOTech model right around that price, but are there other decent quality models from other manufacturer's that would provide rougly the same options but at a cheaper price. Or would I be better off just waiting until one comes up on the Equipment Exchange.

I was especially interested in people's opinions on these two sights: Panorama reflex sight and ATN reflex sight. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=23&t=278508

Thanks

I got a bushnell holosight from a local shop for $125, I think the normal price is $199 for most shops. The holosight is just as good as the eotech for anything but actual combat.

As far as holosights go, I have personally owned the following:

ATN (regular, not digital) $40 loss at sale
Trijicon Reflex II $15 loss at sale
OKO $35 loss at sale
Hakko BED24 $80 loss at sale
EOTech 512

Of those five, I only own an EOTech now. Of those, I would only even CONSIDER PURCHASING another Eotech or OKO.

I found the reticle on the ATN to be blurry and CRAP. The Reflex was OK but it's not "low end" and the reason I sold it was the same as everyone else's complaint. The Hakko was nice enough but it was too long to use with a BUIS. The OKO was GREAT and I wish I hadn't sold it. Dot was crisp, zero was solid, and it was SUPER lightweight. If I hadn't sold it, I'd STILL have an EOTech on my AR, and the OKO would be on my Beretta Storm.

Do yourself a favor... Get the EOTech and save yourself all that wasted money

the digital ATN reticles look great. The only thing I dont like about the ATN is that it is a bit long. Hard to get a back up sight on the receiver with the ATN mounted

Have you seen the ATN Digital Compact Sight they look pretty neat and solid. Here is one for $133.89 ATN

Neither of those are 'holographic'. They just reflect a projected dot onto a screen (like most 'dot' sights).

The only Holographic sight is the EOTech and it's commercial OEM'ed product the Bushnell holosight.

I paid $285 for my Eotech 512 NIB. Just get the Eotech and be done with it.

EOTech owns. If it's good enough for operators, is good enough for you.

Some places have the 1moa dot only Holosight for around $150 from time to time...Bass Pro shops had 'em at one point a while back, and I think Nathez did too.

If you have a C&R license, Midway sells the standard Holosight for $223 dealer...and they have that new one coming that will be $172 dealer...but I have no idea when they'll be available.

I've tried a bunch of the cheaper red dots...even a BSA will *work*, but how much wear and tear it can take, is difficult to predict.

I've been very very happy with the Holosight, and would heartily recommend it if your budget would permit it.

I had good luck with a Tasco Propoint...one of the newer ones. It had THE brightest dot I have ever seen, bar none.

If you can, save for at least a Holosight...you won't be sorry in the long run.
