what do you consider to be the best Magazine for AR"s

Hi all, I'm new to the AR, looking for some input on what everybody likes to use. Looking for reliability at a fair price.Where is best place to buy them,Im thinking at least 6 to 8 mags per rifle. Any thoughts or suggestions?

You're stuck with pre-ban mags.

There are many, many threads on this. Basically, it comes down to preference and opinion. One of the most popular options right now are magpul pmags, but there are devout followers of Lancer, Troy, USGI, and other mags as well. I use PMags, but would like to try out Lancers sometime.
EDIT: didnt see that you were in NY. Youre stuck with mags that were made before the evil black rifle ban, so USGI metal mags are it. I would advise upgrading springs and followers.

You can have new mags, you just can't have any post-ban mags that hold more than 10.
I don't know if the p-mag 10 round limiter is OK for NY, but if I were looking for "new" mags, that's what I would lean towards.
If you want 30 round mags, you have to go pre ban. Look on the equipment exchange.

As you are stuck solely using "preban" magazines, besides the 20rd magazines, the "best" 30rd magazines in my opinion are: FN, Okay, Center Industries.
Preban FN mags are extremely difficult to find. Preban Okay and Center Ind. mags are much more common and will probably give you the best reliability.
Magpul followers are a great enhancement over the black followers.
Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY USA BRAND MAGAZINES.

This, since you are in a ban state. Pre-ban Okay and Center Industries will be the easiest to find. The Okay's (Okay/NHMTG/Colt) are probably the best USGI mags available period. The Centers are nice too.
I live in a free state and have some preban Okay's and one Center. I should probably put them on the EE and get them out to you guys behind the curtain.
