I did my own back when I had a Colt 6450 and the only option was Colt Mags at $50.00 each

I did a few batches for some of the Members when I still had a mill.

Take your time Uzi Magazines are heat treated

I don't have an AR in 9mm (yet) but want one so the thought of mags for it has been crossing my mind. Are the converted UZI mags if done corectly reliable? I happen to have a bunch and would go that route if that is the case.

For me more than anything with c products on the label. metal form is another brand worth purchasing.

Every magazines I converted was 100% reliable before I did the conversion and 100% reliable after the conversion

There is one drawback to converting UZI Mags, they do not have last round bolt hold open

As long as you start with quality mags int he first place - I never had a problem with any converted IMI/MecGar/german contract mags. Stay away from the off brand Uzi mags.

If you aren't a hack, you can convert them using a dremel - takes a lot longer than if you had a mill, but it can be done.

Thanks guys. The ones I have were bought out of fear of high prices just before the 1994 ban went into effect. I know a few of them are IMI but the origin of some are def. questionable. IIRC South Africa or Argentina? Not sure why Argentina popped into my head....Don't remember any more but just having them may be worth seeing if they can be made to work.
Just out of curiosity, which UZI mags would you stay away from for conversion purposes?

Metalforms from Brownells are a better value. I bought a half dozen each of both 20 and 32 rd. All function 100% through my Colt 6450. Very good price if you get the discount as well. They are identical to the older Colt mags (I recall Metalform manufactured older Colt mags).

Converting Uzi mags is so simple, even this guy can do it.
