magazine question

Fixing to build a new AR in something other than 5,56. Just wondering if every caliber requires a different magazine. From what I've been reading, 7.62x39 needs a different mad, I'm sure the 450 bushmaster is different and assume the 300 AAc or 300 whisper also need something other than stock. Will the 6.8 SPC feed through a stock mag? Thanks in advance for your input.

Unfortunately 6.8 will not feed through 5.56 mags and Barrett the best maker of the 6.8 mags sell for a hefty $45 ea.

I was under the impression that the 300BLK would feed from the 5.56 mags?

300 BLK uses the same magazine, it even keeps the same capacity.

I would go with 300 BLK just for readily available parts. Same Mags and bolt carrier groups. Only if youre reloading ammo that is. Im sure store bought 300 BLK is going to be pricey for a while.

.458" SOCOM uses standard mags, I believe.
