I ran a couple of searches but didn't come up with much.

Where do you guys and gals buy yours? Locally I have been unable to find them unless I want to shell out $30 for a 30 cal box.

I've found a few army surplus dealers online but have zero experience with them so if you have what was your impression?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't had any success finding them online either. I needed one more and my local gun store had about 20 the other day. Check Cabela's every once and again even though they are OOS as of now.

Core15rifles.com has. 30 cal cans for $10 shipping as $12 for 2 cans and a lpk. Can't speak to quality as I just ordered today.

I second ammocanman. I have made numerous purchases from there since locals really jack up the price on the cans. They aren't in that rough of shape; however, I always refinish mine anway.

Thanks for the input, I just ordered six 50 cal cans. Now I'll have to make a trip to the lumber yard to start building that shelving system I have wanted.

Sportsman's Guide has .30cal for $11. With a promo code you can basically get free shipping

Ammocanman gave free shipping plus I found a discount code of FACEBOOK that gave me an additional 10% off. So for six 50 cal cans I paid $11 each. I can live with that since I am used to paying about $9-10 at gun shows for the 50 cals.

Edit: I just received confirmation tey are shipping out today. Amazing that I get excited for this, but in today's crazy world of buy and wait 4-9 weeks this is a welcome suprise.

I always buy mine at the gun show. We have 'em about every weekend to every other weekend here in Texas, so plenty of oppurtunity. I used to pay about $6-$8, last couple shows they've been about $10-$15 because of the panic buying. Sometimes Gander Mtn. had 'em for about $10-$20 pre-craze.

I don't see that price for the 50 cal cans. Can you point me to the package?

Palmetto State Armory has new .50 cal ammo cans for $16.99 and .30 cals for $12.99. Expect at least 15 days for your order to ship. I usually get my ammo cans from them or hit up gun shows.

I just looked and can not find the 3 .50 cal package that I purchased. I see others that are listed at a higher prices and others that are listed as different grades. I tried to find it in my browser history but it has already been automatically removed.

In the menu, look under the individual .50 cans. The packs are listed there, but not under where it says "Packs". Strange!

I have bought twice in the past from these folks, but it looks like their current selection of ammo cans is crummy.

Wideners has new cans in stock at the relatively decent price of $13.5/each if you buy 12. Shipping is pretty steep and you can bet on a month wait for them to ship.

Sportsman Guide had the best prices a few weeks ago. Join their "club" and you would get free shipping and a dollar off each can, came to $8.97 per. Hadn't wanted to join for the longest, but it was handy at this time.

I found good table at the last gun show in my area a couple weeks ago. I ended up taking home 4 cans for $25.

They were dirty, but not rusty. Seals were in good shape. Everyone else at the show was charging $8-10 each.

Bought a dozen from SGammo recently. If you sign in to their notify link for the items, they come into stock pretty regularly....arrived in nice shape and shipping was very reasonable from what I recall. All were .50 cans

I haven't seen those for 15+ years. Great item. My thought was to heat whatever you were putting into it, them seal it up. When it cooled, it would pull a vacuum and then if the latch hardware rusted away (in the ground, for instance), they would stay sealed.

I picked up a few from Bass Pro yesterday, they had pallets of them just sitting on the floor. I think it was 20$.

I haven’t bought ammo cans in years, but the ones I have I bought from ammotogo.com, armygear.net, a local army surplus story, and gun shows.

Why not from one of our own: Old Grouch Surplus OG Ammo cans

He still has some 50 cal and 25 mm cans available.

Good luck.

Gun shows is best prices normally. Army/Navy type stores locally. See sellers on eBay but shipping can get expensive.

After paying to get into a show and finding out there are none I might as well purchase them from someone online and pay shipping.

This. You have to preorder them but so far, with every order, timeframes have been accurate. Most ammo cans are in great condition, only a few (1:10) was repainted and/or tiny rust spots. The all have small scrapes and little to no dinging. Seals are like new.

From here:
http://browningmgs.com/AmmoCans/T-Chial/AmmoBoxes02_postWW2.htm

A plastic ammo box for 30, linked 25mm Cartridges probably for the Bradley fighting vehicle gun. The box opens on the bottom and top and both lids have a hinge. The lids are not removable. It measurers approximately 13.5” L x 5.6” W x 14.5” H.

I have a few and they are damn near indestructable....I got them from Cheaper Than Dirt back in the mid 90's. Other than a limited selection that pops up on ebay, I have never seen these sold any where other than Cheaper Than Dirt and that stock only lasted a year or two.

Buyer beware, I just got 11 of these cans in yesterday and they were all in bad shape. Lots of rust, some not holding seal (with accumulated water and rust inside), one so dented it wasn't functional. If it's going to take me 2 $4 cans of spraypaint and 2 hours of cleaning/sanding/painting per can I'd rather just buy new.

I was super disappointed in Sportsmans Guide on these recent cans, thank goodness they have an awesome return policy and it'll only be about a $20 mistake in total (for to/from shipping).

Edit: P.S. If others have gotten these cans recently please post up and let us know what you got as I'd like to know if I just got screwed and should look for an exchange.

I order from ACM. I always order grade 2 and have never had an issue. Grade 2's are sometimes spray painted over or have tape over the top or have people names wrote all over them. That is the only difference between grade1 and grade2. You will be happy
