 pmc bronze compared to m193

I just ordered some .223 PMC 55gr bronze from PSA since the shipping was free.

I only ordered 80 rounds to give it a try.

I know its not 5.56 and is underpowered (just going to shoot for plinking steel targets)

My AR is zeroed with m193 and its all i normally shoot, along with m855 (which provides about the same POI as m193 using 50/200 zero)

My question is, does the bronze shoot well? Will I be getting WAY different accuracy? What i mean by this is will i be getting the same POI similar to m193 out to 200 yards?

Only bought a small amount just to blow through so Im not going to change my zero for 2 and half mags of steel shooting.

In my experience the Bronze is weak enough that you will definitely have to re-zero. My point of impact shift between M193 and the PMC was very noticeable at only 60yrds.

That being said once zeroed I found it to be just as, if not more accurate than the M193.

As always YMMV

I mainly shoot PMC Bronze and M193. For me at 50 yds out of a 16" the PMC hits about 2 inches lower than my m193.

+1 Me too.

I would only imagine that at 100 it would easily double that number.

I have a S&W M&P Sport AR and M193 and PMC Bronze hit at nearly the same POI. My rifle really likes the PMC. Here's 3 targets from sighting in at 50 yards last week.

Out of my 16'' Midlength BCM Standard my POI with .223 PMC Bronze is consistently 2'' lower than XM193 out to 100 yards.

From my experience the PMC 55gr Bronze ammo groups fairly well (about 3 moa 10 shot grops for me) and I have not had any issues through 300 rounds.

Let us know how it works out for you.

You should learn to zero your weapon for any shooting situation (or ammo) you encounter. The A2 sights are incredibly easy to use. Record your 5.56 zero and return to it when you're done shooting .223 and keep notes if you need to. We had to memorize the front sight adjustments for our M16A1s and adjust the rear sight for windage when necessary. It's just part of shooting.

Just a note, you called PMC bronze "underpowered."

I would actually reserve the term "underpowered" for Tula, and consider .223 ammo like PMC Bronze as normal. XM193 and XM885 like high octane to my way of thinking.

I used underpowered as a comparison to xm193 and xm855 like i normally shoot. I just meant that i know it won't be as 'hot' as 5.56.

True, we're on the same page.
