On Federal's LE site, they list this as training ammo. PSA is out right now, but someone else my have it. If they
list it as training ammo, I'd say it would have comparable ballistics like Hornady's training TAP does to TAP.

ETA: ATG and SGammo have it.

Thanks! Should have thought of that myself, duh. That stuff is hard to find and expensive for those that do have it. I'm going to have to either get the red box AE or the black box XM193 from the looks of things. Which would be closer in performance?

I've not shot the Federal ammo, I'm using the TAP training stuff right now. My guess, from looking at the ATK website, is that the AE223 is what you want. Perhaps someone with experience with the Federal stuff can chime in.

Good luck

Found the black box Tactical AE233 for $.3471 a round shipped for $500 rounds, not to bad. Only about $15 more than surplus stuff. Think that's what I'll go with

If we are talking combat accuracy??
Dont worry about finding a = equal Ballistic load !

My load is Mk262 a 77gr BTHP
My zero is at 50Y ( LMT M4 )

M855 a 62gr FMJ has almost the same POI

Ive even hit tin cans at the berm 220y
useing M193/M855

I would buy the cheapest 55gr load I could get
AE 55gr would be my pick

POI is more or less what I'm after. When I go to qualify I don't wasn't to have to make any adjustments. I want POI, recoil, etc to be as close as possible.

If you're trying to approximate the load:

1) Find out muzzle velocity of the TRU load
2) Find out BC of bullet used
3) Find cheaper load using a bullet (probably FMJ) that has about the same BC and MV.

BC is probably not going to be a huge factor. Realize that even if you do that, there might still be an appreciable shift in POI because of inherent differences in how your rifle shoots those particular types of ammo.

If you want a similar round, I believe the 100rd value packs at walmart are the same as the AE223.

Also Cabelas stocks the XM193 and AE223 right next to eachother. You have to look close because the boxes are the same.

Also XM193 with have a different POI.

According to Federal it's a "Hi-Shok SP" bullet with 3220 velocity out of a 24" barrel. BC?

My Walmart's ammo selection sucks. Only .223 they have is $10 Remingtom UMC. Once in a blue moon they'll have Tula. The 100 round value packs have never been carried here or any of the other ones in the several neighboring towns I have looked. At least they keep pistol ammo in stock. I don't have any sporting good stores within an hours drive. No cabellas, gander mountain, dick's, etc. Best deal the local gun shop has is PMC for $7.95 a box or $160/500. As you can see my options are pretty much limited to internet orders.
