I ran across a box of Black Hills remanufactured .223 and all the brass was marked WCC 04 with a NATO headstamp. I've used BH reman .223 before, but never noticed military brass.

Thanks...O3 out!!

Thanks for responding gents. It has been a few years since I've had any BH's ammo, I guess I just didn't pay attention to the details in the past.

With the exception of the MK262...all of their .223 line is loaded to SAAMI specs correct?

Black Hills does not make cases or projectiles they purchase components and load and they do a very good job at it.

Yes, it is SAAMI .223, not 5.56 NATO...

It's just loaded into recycled brass...

BH is a professional loading company, not a components mfg....

A very very good professional reloading company...

Nope.

*most* BH is loaded with surp military brass. We have seen some commercial brass headstamps being used from time to time in a box.

Red box is not "re-manufactured" which is what we were discussing. Red box is new ammo.

LC is mil-surp.... so that fits the typical mold. What I was saying - is that even in the blue-box ammo, you occasionaly see commercial headstamps - it isnt all LC or WCC.

I notice the black hills ammo I have purchased in the last year is not as accurate as some I bought in the 80's and 90's. Its all blue box. I am wondering if the mixed headstamps is contributing to the problem. The WCC cases use that strange gapped crimp and the LC uses the normal taper crimp. They don't get all the crimp out of the old WCC brass and it looks rough around the bullet area.

I just bought a couple of 52gr hp blue boxes without realizing that they were 223. I normally shoot m855. Will there be a big ballistic difference?
