Natchez has this at very good prices, and says it is made by Federal.
I have not seen anything here about this stuff.
Who has tried and what do you think?

A quick web search turned this up:

CCI introduces the Independence™ line of ammunition. This ammunition is manufactured using modern processes and components that yield a quality product ideal for target practice and recreational shooting. Independence loads offer consistent performance at a very competitive price.

Independence ammunition features fully reloadable, newly-manufactured brass cases, non-corrosive primers and full metal jacket bullets. It’s available in the following calibers: 9MM, 38 Special, 357 Mag, 40 S&W, 45ACP, and 380ACP.

Made in Brasil.

Only ammo mfgr I know of in Brasil is CBC, aka MagTech here in the USA. Wonder if CBC makes it under contract for CCI, part of Aliant, which also owns Federal and runs Lake City.

CBC is fair ammo at best. Mag Tech is about the same if you want to be nice about the description.

I thought Blount owned Federal. Isn't Alliant owned by IMI?

I shot 50 rds of Independence .45 ACP at the range yesterday. Seemed a little hotter than usual, my gun hand was pretty dirty afterwards. Lots of sparks out the business end. Accuracy was quite good. Repeated shots in the X at 20 feet with my trusty P220. Not bad for plinking! Just my.02!

These were all Blount last I heard. I know RCBS was sold from Blount after they almost killed the company. Interesting.

Blount bought up those companies in the early 90s, mostly, finally acquiring Federal in the late 90's. ATK bought this group of companies from Blount sometime in 2000, IIRC, as part of their effort to develop the OICW, which is now the XM8. Remember that ATK and HK are partners in this project.

Ahh... corporate mergers and divestitures...

I recieved my order today. On the box it says imported into the USA by Ammunition Accessories Inc Lewiston Idaho. So its clearly not made by ATK or a subsidiary. There is also a code on the box BR/CBC/DPC-010/2004. I bet that the BR/CBC translates as made in Brazil by CBC.

Blount purchased Federal Cartridge in 1997 from Pentair who purchased Federal/Hoffman in 1988.
