Discussing that here.

My S&W has been 100% and it is the best 22LR semi I have ever owned. I can run a hole ragged at 50yards easy with it and it is dead on accurate.

I would have to say that the S&W M&P 15-22 is the finest AR22 on the market. Mine chews up every kind of ammo and is more than accurate. I'd love an all-stell upper too but the track record on them has been spotty with even the best brands. Go with the Smith, you won't be sorry.

Never had any AD's out of mine I have over 3K for mileage on it.

Perfect for the little ones the recoil is nothing.

Another vote for the M&P22. They kick ass. Super accurate and addicting. Best bang for the buck out there. Oh yeah......I have two.

I went with a CMMG 22lr AR, but the S&W M&P15-22 was my second choice.

I have a Tactical Solutions Complete 22lr upper that I use on a CavArms lower and haven't had any issues so far.

Of course I did spend a few hundred more than I would have if I would have went with the M&P22

it was the Colt / Umarex version that was having (reportedly) so many problems.
one gun dealer was so fed up with selling and listening to his customers complain he bought them back and sold them on Gun Broker as boat oars.
took a heck of a loss and moved on.

+1 to that. they are complete garbage. I'd go with the CMMG spikes or S&W

The first 15/22's had OBD's. The problem is supposed to be solved.
Accuracy is affected by heat or torque on the hand guards more so that an aluminum upper AR.

Thats what I remember.....so the issue has been resolved?? So have owners seen accuracy issues with heat build up?

I was going to purchase a S&W MP but my local dealer was out of stock. A few days later his distributers were telling him it would be next month before they were expecting any. Being impatient, I began researching other options. I wound up purchasing a CMMG and havn't regretted it for a second.

The SW was our second choice also but we went with the CMMG Bought the upper and we assembled a Aero Precision lower and at the time the CMMG ran about 50.00 higher than the SW would have cost, so it was well worth the little extra for us anyway..

Sig 522 for me more reliable than 10/22 types

The Smith if you don't have a true-blue case of BRD (Black Rifle Disease), I have built all my AR 22s, and they can be changed to pretty much any caliber and any configuration. If I didn't care about ever wanting to change it up, I would go Smith....it is probably your cheapest option. If you have the AR BRD real bad.....you have to build your own using standard AR stuff....still use a dedicated barrel no matter what though.

My $0.02.....

P.S. If you build, go with a CMMG SS kit, and a CMMG barrel or TACCOM3G LW barrel, depending on what direction you want to go.

You can check out the S & W sight for accuracy or better, poi changes.
We also did testing with a poly upper. Results showed any pressure on the hand guard would cause a poi shift. You can get used to it but it requires you to keep the same amount of pressure and direction each time. This can be compounded by heat.
The newer 15/22's appear to be reliable. They are lite weight. Just depends on what you are looking for.

I have a CMMG and brother-in-law has a Sig 522 and SW15-22.

CMMG is my favorite with the Sig 522 a close second. I do not care for the SW15-22. Shoots fine but just too lightweight and too much plastic for me. Maybe it was the real-tree camo finish on my brother-in-laws but I just did not like it. I prefer my GSG5 over the S&W. Just personal preference though, my brother-in-law loves it. Another consideration is mags, S&W ones are hard to find right now. You have lots of options with CMMG/Sig.

(Just to clarify the GSG comment. My GSG runs great and is accurate. I prefer the feel of that over the S&W. However the GSG is screwed together and made of low strength metal which is generally a bad combination for longevity. I would put money on the S&W outlasting the GSG in service life. But my GSG has lasted over 5k rounds now with no issues and is what started us on the tactical 22 buying spree.)

I'm pleased with my 15-22 and have shot the snot out of it. I've got is set up like it's centerfire brethren, so it makes a great trainer.

I've not experienced the POI change issue, but I use mine for more informal practice than getting all slinged in and shooting for group.

Hard to beat it for the money, and the guys at S&W had that price point figured out.

For whatever it is worth, I have a dedicated CMMG .22LR upper and it is about 90% reliable. I think it was 100% reliable until I changed away from the CCI minimags to a bulk box of federal. I think reliability is totally connected to the ammo you use. CCI Blazers were 100%, CCI minimags also. Federal is so-so, etc., etc. I am getting ready to try the new CCI Tactical .22LR that is supposed to be designed specifically for semi-autos.

All I've shot thru mine so far has been the bulk Federal from Wally World. Seems to work great in the CMMG.
