i asked this same question in the magpul forum, and to my local guys smith rep. no one seems to know anything other than sometime this year.

i went ahead and got one this weekend at a fun show (450 otd w/ threaded barrel) so the moe version should be out next week.

Dammit S&W! You may just force me to put Magpul swag on my M&P15/22.

I went to the fun store today, to buy the standard one, and it was sold out.

They said they should have more by Monday or Tuesday.

But next weekend is the "factory shoot" the store has gun company reps come in to show off products and let people try them in the range. I'm hoping S&W will be there so I can try to get some answers. I might hold out for the magpul one. as long as it comes out before april and it is $50 or less different than the standard.

i have been doing some research on the smith and wesson forums, i have heard 2 stories 30 days from shot show and 3-4 months from now. i don't know which to believe. This coming weekend, is a show at my local gun store where factory reps let people talk to them about their products and shoot some of the handguns. I intend to buy my m&p 15-22 this weekend at the show. i will talk to the S&W rep about the "MOE" m&p15-22. If it will be out in less than a few weeks from now I will hold out, if not I'll just buy a regular version. I don't need the treaded barrel, I can put a MIAD and MOE stock on myself. i can take the MBUS off my AR (and replace them with MBUS gen2 or Troys). the sling adapter would be awesome though

Ill let you guys know what I hear

Nice rifle!

is that Foliage Green?

I want to do almost the exact same thing ladder rails, MIAD, MOE, MBUS, AFG all in FG. or get a LaRue UDE Kit

I have a ms2 sling and I hear that a MI #13 will let me use it in my 15-22

According to the newly released Smith and Wesson 2010 Catalogue
The M&P15-22 MOE (model 811034) is $100 more and should be avaliable now.

I waited on the A1 version...that's all I could handle.

Here's mine..
If anyone thinks this version is free of problems, it's not. I had several FTL's and one oob, AFTER having several hundred trouble free rounds.
It's at s&w now being updated to "current spec".
I'm sure it will be GTG when I get it back.

thanks for the heads up on the going green sale! I think that makes up my mind! that way I can get matching MBUS! plus i'd rather have MIAD instead of a MOE

i think im going to order the FG stuff and save alot of money

How do you tell if you have the current spec model? I just got mine and it has the threaded barrel and my gun shop has just received it in the last week.

I'm not exactly sure what all they do, but I know they replace all the springs with blue ones.

+10000 on DSG's going green sale. That's where I got all my stuff for my 15-22.
Best deal on Magpul gear for sure if you don't mind green furniture.

Actually, that's a $40 Lowe's store brand (Kobalt) "tactical" light. The tape I made myself. It's simple. Two panel mount, momentary switches, PC board, soldering skills, and a good selection of heat-shrink tubing and velcro. I made the internals in the tailcap of the light also. It's practically set-up for the conversion already. De-solder and remove the switch from the PC board, solder wires and use a screw cap for a spacer, attach the tape switch, and you're done. It's not something I'd stake my life on, but, the light's durable and adds a touch of "cool".

Thanks!! Haven't shot the Smith yet. I've had the high Standard for about two years. Never a malfunction. I would stake my life on that weapon.

I got mine today. I just went with the rifle that had the standard grip, stock, muzzle brake, and with the magpul sights.
Honestly, I did not see the resaon for getting the magpul grip or stock for my purposes.
It is the model B with the magpul sights from S&W.

The differences are the sights, stock, and grip? Is the Magpul grip any better?

So the M&P 15-22's can take regular AR stocks? (I know this thread is about a MOE specific model from the factory)

I thought I read/saw that it can't take regular AR stocks. Or maybe it was that you had to swap out the buffer tube, and use a regular buffer tube? Something about it being proprietary? Or am I not even close?

EDIT: I just watched a vid on YouTube, and it looks like the buffer tube is actually a molded part of the lower, but you can use any mil-spec stock on it. Is that right?

I have a MOE mil-spec on mine, fits great! Maybe it can take both!

I was looking at the spec on S&W's M&P 5.56 rifles and they are mil-spec. tubes. Unless the .22 is using a cheaper stock to cut costs then I could not see S&W producing (purchasing) two different stock setups. So I am guessing that it is mil-spec.

I bought mine last week, a threaded barrel version (didn't realize there was an MOE version coming soon). I performed some upgrades along the way: Magpul ACS, AFG, XTM (bottom rail), MBUS and a mag pull. FWIW, I also had an LMT SOPMOD on the rifle with no issues. Now all I need is a good sling! Highlights courtesy of crayola.

Hmmm.... Seems like they may have "split the difference". Mine, measured with digital calipers, measures 1.154". So, it seems, both may fit.
