Is Osprey 416 Fail Zero coated kit worth the extra money?

I ordered the standard kit a couple days ago, but wondering if I should swap it out for the Fail Zero. Anybody had problems with the standard kit that the FZ would solve?

Thanks.

They will also do a kit with the regular piston and FZ bolt carrier, which I did. I wish I would have done the full FZ kit, but I must say, with a bit of Mpro when cleaning, it is in fact worth the extra coin. Also, a POF roller cam pin and chrome bolt are an excellect addition.

Yes

What issues did you had that the FZ kit solve?

I'm an AA user, but if I were to go osprey, I'd spend the little extra for FZ. I just really like that coating, and it makes cleaning MUCH easier. It's like nothing sticks to it, so just a wipe of a paper towel and it's spotless. No endless brushing and solvent.

I shoot my Osprey build suppressed with Wolf and Yugo surplus. When I shoot non-corrosive ammo, no more effort than wiping down with a shop rag is needed on the bcg, and even cleaning the piston head is effortless other than a few drops of lube to get it wet. IMO, the FZ coating isn't neccessary unless you think you will ever be in a situation where you will not have access to any lube for extended periods of time.

FWIW I use Hoppes oil on my piston build and after a 200 round session, I still have lube left over for the next range trip the next week. I usually don't relube unless I have to clean it after shooting corrossive ammo.

I guess I got to this too late as you've already spent the money.

I would have told you to save your money on the overall kit. I have FZ coated bolts only. The BC is their standard as is the piston and key. They still run flawlessly and are easy enough to clean.

I have the full FZ BCGs in my DI ARs and love them.

FZ would be nice. I have the original standard kit and found it to be the easiest piston kit to clean so far out of my LWRCI, AA, Sig, & Osprey Defense. I cleaned the piston itself after about 1200 rounds. It was filthy, but it never let on that it was as far as performance goes.
