Creative much? Core15 new lower design + giveaway!! Step inside….

Alright here’s what we’ve got. Lately we’ve been trying to think up a way to say thanks to everyone here on ar15.com for the support and kind words, both in threads and the many PM’s we’ve received (you guys know who you are, and thanks). At the same time, we are preparing a round of roughly a dozen new variance submissions for ATF approval (some contracted from other companies, some just for fun, stay tuned for those), and we thought we might incorporate the two. Now the fun part….

We like to think we have some exceptional talent and creativeness here at Core 15, but the more minds the merrier. So we came up with a contest. What we want is submissions on original design ideas for a popular new variance on a lower. The sky is the limit as far as what you can submit, but the rules are as follows:

-No patented, copyrighted, or previously done submissions (original designs only). Any submissions being considered will be given to our patent attorney for a thorough "background check” prior to manufacturing.

-Submission must include a simple line drawing.

-Only one submission per member.

-Submissions will become the property of GTO Guns dba Core15 Rifle Systems, to be used at our discretion.

-Submissions must be sent via email with the line drawing attached to justin@gtoguns.com. Please include your member name on ar15.com for inclusion in the contest.

This contest will run from today through Sept 10th. All pertinent, honest entries (read: some effort involved and an original design) will receive a free Core 15 T-shirt. The winner will be notified via email and announced on ar15.com, and for his or her efforts will receive a free lower of their own design, serial number 1. From there, we will offer them at a special price (to be determined) to all ar15.com members. Keep in mind, ATF variance letters can take as long as 8-10 weeks to process and then we have to manufacture them. That being said, we plan delivery of these to be in time for Santa, a bit earlier if the ATF is firing on all 8. We hope everyone has as much fun with this as we have coming up with our own designs, and good luck!! Thanks again guys.

Primarily logo design (see our current Gator lower as an example). Finish is up for debate...as in, if the winner and subsequent customers purchasing this receiver want Cerakote, Fail Zero or possibly even some color anodizing done, we could certainly work that out (there would be an up-charge there though). As for features, if anyone wants to suggest something in their submission, we will certainly do all we can to make that happen.

Thanks for the responses guys, keep 'em coming.

JM,

You submit us a line drawing on a completely new lower, like conceptually different but one that will still accept mil-spec uppers, sign off on the non-compete and patent paperwork, I'll give you 5 of them, consecutive serial numbers, with whatever coating you like!!!

Quotes could definitely be considered. In that case, picking/providing with a specific font would be the way to go. Provide it in a jpeg file. We've had a handful of submission so far, keep 'em coming. Thanks guys!!

3D stuff will work just fine. We use 3D programs, so that will save us from converting it ourselves. Thanks and keep em coming guys! - Justin

So... everyone sends in their designs, it costs Core15 some T-Shirts and 1 lower... and all the designs become their property to profit from... wow. Think people.

That's what it seems like, if you don't like the rules don't submit something.

Its not like other companies are offering anything better, plus who wants to risk starting a business for a lower idea they have and then deal with all the hassles. Free T-shirt and a lower seems like a good deal to me

ETA: Good thing I subbed this... I forgot all about it until now, lets see if I can come up with something before tomorrow...

My thoughts exactly. I have a few ideas that I think have some serious potential, but I think I'll shop it around to a few manufacturers to see who will be willing to pay the best royalties or just purchase the design outright after I have made a working prototype or two. I'm pretty sure I can do better than a T-shirt and a lower. I've got an idea for a modification to the upper half that could be revolutionary too. I'm currently taking CNC machining classes and working on HAAS certifications that I hope will allow me to produce some functional prototypes to test and make quick modifications to the designs.

Alright gentlemen, I think from reading on some of these posts we've had a bit of a misunderstanding.

What we're looking for here in this contest is not some genius modification to the AR-15 design or operating system itself, but simply a cool, fun design to put on the receiver. An example would be our Gator Lower.

We've had several submissions that are in the context we are looking for, however we've had quite a few that included major redesigns as well. Again, all we're looking for in this is a slick and simple design to be put on the side of the lower, something to have a little fun with. We never intended this as a freebie engineering casting call what so ever. We do apologize to anyone who took it as such, and we can certainly understand the push back from some of you guys who took it the wrong way.

So what we're going to do is extend this deal out a bit....say an additional month from the original end date (October 10 would be the final day for submissions) so that anyone who was confused initially will now have a chance to submit if they so choose. Again we want to apologize for any misconception or lack of proper communication. Good luck, and keep the submissions rolling!!

I named my Ar after my girl, and dubbed it "TITTY MEAT"

S a big breasted nekkid chick would be cool. Or like the mud flap lady.

Or for like a 6.5 or higher caliber, the "fat" mud flap lady.

State flags would be neat.

Or like a damn good durable vinyl decal that changes color as the rifle heats up.

then you could have a chick in a bikini, that gets nekkid as the rifle gets hot.

Gentlemen, we do have a winner!!

Congratulations to member Tay of Stillwater, OK. His idea was a patriotic gesture with a nod towards the firearms industry as a whole and the AR sect in particular, and we feel he hit the nail on the head. He and our internal marketing guy went back and forth with no less than a dozen variations of his basic premise, which is to say he certainly earned his lower.

We plan to add some wording either above, around or below the pic, possibly something with a bit of political sting to it , though that hasn't been determined yet.

One modification from the original plan I want to mention is that we made the decision to produce these on our current platform lowers, on the off side (opposite side from the serial number) where the "Core 15" is on our standard production lowers. This means we won't be able to do the SN00001 idea, but the trade off is we can have these receivers available in a matter of weeks instead of months. The end result will be a nice show piece and make a statement at the same time.

We appreciate all the submissions, and we hope you guys had as much fun with this as we did. We'll keep you guys up to date on the availability of these, and we're planning a run of 100 initially. Thanks again for all the support and submissions.
