New Geissele Automatics USA MADE Benelli M4/M2 hammer. Pics
Rob and I got our new G.A. US made Hammers in today, here are a few pics. Once I get one installed I will post more photos. We should have some feed back for Bill and the forum soon. For now, here are the photos. They should be for sale on Geissele's website now for around 49 bucks.
The hammers have the following features:
manufactured by Geissele so it is a U.S. made part
marked 'U.S.'
material is S7 tool steel
sears are nicely cut and very smooth
no gunsmithing or fitting is necessary, this is a 'drop in' hammer
It helps with 922 compliance.
Of note for Benelli M4 owners who want their expensive boom sticks to look "tacticool", this is part number 4 for 922r compliance with a skeleton stock. With this hammer, a US-made follower, a US-made magazine (available from several manufacturers) and a US made forend stock (from Surefire, carriercomp, or KZ/Botach) you can now install your two-piece imported skeleton stocks without fear of BAFTE lighting your house on fire knocking on your door. (Mesa Tactical also offers the US-made Urbino stock––fifth part––if you don't care for the Italian-made options.)
ETA: strikeout text and insert correction
At last! I've been waiting for someone to do this for a while. I'm glad Geissele took on the task, it's nice to know your only option is a good one...
A truly stupid BATFE rule. Of course, like all things, its the law abiding among us that leap through a series of hoops to be compliant while bad guys couldn't care less. Very glad this hammer (and maybe a fulll trigger assembly soon too) was made. Now hopefully the Feds won't ban the M4 to begin with as a non-sporting shotgun.

Well, of course it's enacted law, but as someone who works on Capitol Hill I kinda know about this. Point is BATFE interprets and rules on this short of going to court, so how about a little slack. Have you been following the debate on environmental LAWs and how EPA choses to interpret them via their RULES and POLICIES? Hardly a settled issue. I just hope you didn't miss my point while trying to pretend you're so smart. Buy the same weapon's features from FN in SC and NO PROBLEM. It's pure BS.
Only law-abiding people bend over backwards to stay compliant though and this hammer makes it possible. Easier to endure the stupidity of this LAW and how BATFE opts to interpret it

No. It's a BATFE rule based on an interpretation of the law. The actual law itself does not specify what particular design features constitute a "sporting purpose" - that was concocted by the BATFE (tech branch?).
The question is, how do you prove that the components you have are
compliant to the satisfaction of the BATFE? Even though US-made, there's no guarantee that they will necessarily be atomatically approved. Further, what is to prevent re-interpretation of the "sporting purpose" clause? Recall that there was an internal BATFE review/study concerning the issue, so it's always subject to revision via administrative interpretation.

Good point. The current M4 could be banned from import tomorrow by the BATFE and the onus would be on Congress to rewrite the law to preclude this interpretation. That or you'd be in the courts sparring over what's the proper interpretation of the BATFE's scope of authority in this regard.
got mine installed today. having the correct pliers would have made it a snap. but it went pretty easy as I used a brass punch to push down gently when I used my older snap ring pliers. just waiting on my carrier tube follower and I need a forearm. I got my stock in just 3 days from Antione
I've got an 18.5 M2. Does this in any way improve the trigger pull or lighten it or make it heavier?
Installed one of these hammers on Thursday. It was my final compliance hoop.
1. Geissele Hammer
2. Carriercomp Titanium Full Length Magazine Tube
3. Brownells US Made Follower
4. Surefire M80 Railed Forend
The install was very easy for this hammer. Less than 5 minutes taking my time. A pair of snap ring pliers helps a lot. In my opinion, there couldn't have been a better company to take on this production challenge. A big thanks to Geissele and Kip from carriercomp for getting this done.
I got mine Friday. The instillation was easy, and function was perfect. And considering it's a Geissele product $50 is a pretty good price. The damn OEM look-alike hand guards from FFT cost $50, and they are nothing more than a simple injection molded plastic part, not to mention they are heavier than the stock part, and fit like shit.
Now I have a politically correct M4, hooray! I would just like to thank our representatives and the BATF for allowing me to spend hundreds of dollars on parts I didn't need, and do nothing to improve what was a perfectly good shotgun...
But still, thanks Geissele. At least one of the parts I replace was just as good as the original...

You got the same setup as I do Stranger. Except for that M80. I went with the FFT because I liked the OEM forearm (and I haven't had any trouble with the FFT). Still looking for that magical light mount that will clamp towoards the muzzle on the barrel and not obstruct takedown ... Why am I replying to you on this forum ... ?
I have been emailing Barbara at Geissele and she implied this is specifically an M4 part. Are you 100% certain it will fit an M2?
