Elzetta unveils new Flashlight Mount for Tactical Shotguns
Elzetta  [Industry Partner]

Elzetta is pleased to unveil our new and affordable ZSM Flashlight Mount for Tactical Shotguns.

The new Elzetta ZSM fits Remington 870, Mossberg 500/590, and many other shotguns with at least 1 3/4" free space on the magazine tube and barrel. The ZSM may be mounted to either side of the shotgun and is made from the same durable polymer used in our popular Elzetta
ZFH1500.

Every Elzetta ZSM comes with Sizing Adapters, giving the Flashlight Mount the ability to hold flashlights from 0.70 to 1.05 inches in diameter (we, of course, recommend our 235-lumen Elzetta ZFL-M60 LED Flashlights). Additionally, every Elzetta ZSM includes Gauge Adapters that allow it to be used with 20-guage and .410 shotguns.

Retail price for the standard ZSM is $39.95. A Thumb Screw version is available for $46.95 which allows installation and removal of flashlights without tools.

Like everything Elzetta sells, the ZSM is Made in the USA with a limited lifetime warranty.

Available now for pre-order with an anticipated ship date of November 29, 2010.

assume they hold up to barrel heat?

I put thousands of rounds through an AR with an Elzetta ZFH-1500 flashlight mount on the FSB, including multiple occasions where I dumped 5 mags in a row.

After that, I took the flashlight mount off and looked at the "inside" - it looked brand new.

If you could load and fire a shotgun fast enough to damage an Elzetta mount attached to said shotgun, I'd like to shake your hand.

Very nice and also made in USA. Does the surefire G2 fit this new mount?

Ya it looks pretty solid yet cheap and easy to install. Im going to buy one for my wife's 870 if a G2 will fit it. I think the mount would be really sweet if it had a small rail on the light side so you could mount a small laser max on it.

FYI: My buddy runs one of their lights on his dept issue M-4. He has beat this thing to a pulp but it keep right on ticking. So it looks like they make some pretty good products so far.

I think he meant the plastic clamp on doohickey.

Yeah, that's what I meant. It's a different design, obviously, but I think the polymer material is the same.

I've gotten my shotgun pretty hot already. Shooting clay pigeons for an hour, going through two boxes of shotgun shells. You could easily see the heat coming off of the barrel. It was so hot we took a break, but then again an AR probably gets significantly hotter

Yes, the new ZSM Shotgun Mount is made from the same material as our ZFH1500. Heat is not an issue.

If your 590 has an extended mag tube you will be good to go. Please give us a little time on the photography.

The only possible problem I can see is proper operation of the light; may need a pigtail.

That said, I'm pretty sure that I just found my new shotgun light mount. I've been looking for something simple.

OT: Any chance of a 18650 compatible change to the ZFL-M60?
Thanks.

An 18650 would require a larger bore which would sacrifice the protection of primary 123A cells. However, if you want to run a rechargeable battery, a 17670 works very well in a 2-Cell Elzetta ZFL-M60.

Thanks for the info.
Am I correct in thinking that the performance difference between two CR123s and one 17670 is negligible?

Personally, from my time over at Candle Power Forums ... I believe it is best to run weapon lights on primaries (standard CR123 batteries).

Couple reasons ... rechargeables have less "juice" in them, and when they drop out of regulation - they go dead rather quickly (~ minutes). Primaries will run longer, and they will slowly trail off over time after they drop out of regulation (not instantly like a rechargable). Obviously - better to have more light for longer ... so go with Primaries.

Also, if using rechargeables, keep in mind that the charged shelf-life is much shorter than lithium cells. For general daily use, rechargeables can save money. For critical applications, we recommend lithium batteries.

I forget how many, but there is a certain number of mags that, when dumped in a row, begins to melt things, beginning with the gas tube. If aluminum melts, so wll that mount. My Friend. Now it could very well be that their polymer melts at a temp higher than
aluminum. If so, cool.

The gas tube is stainless steel. The sustained firing test where they melted the gas tube was a little over 530 rounds, about 18 magazines of sustained full auto fire. Squeeze trigger, empty magazine, replace magazine, repeat, etc. It would be near impossible with a semi-auto AR to reach those temperatures, and like 87GN said, if you could achieve that rate of fire with a pump action shotgun, or even semi-auto, 8 rounds at a time, more power to ya.

I was just wondering how I was going to mount a light to my 870 for home defense purposes, and was leaning towards a barrel clamp set up with a pic rail on the side, and then this comes along and is perfect! What a well timed and useful product. I will defenitely order one of these soon, and put that lonely Surefire 660 I have laying around to good use.

We just added a new Complete Shotgun Illumination Kit to our website. This Kit includes a 235-Lumen Elzetta ZFL-M60-SF2C (2-Cell LED Weapon Light with Standard Bezel, 20-degree Flood Lens, and Click Tailcap) and an Elzetta ZSM-T Mount (Thumb Screw Model).

The discounted price for this Kit is $194.90, a savings of $12.00.

The "Fly's Eye" Flood Lens on this Light is absolutely phenomenal for CQB, breeching, home defense, and indoor applications. It uniformly illuminates a room without any discernable hot spot or splash-back reflection. There is nothing else like it on the market.

Sorry for the delay. Here are some pics of an Elzetta ZSM Mount on a Mossberg 590A1 with 20-inch barrel and bayonet lug. Although there is no bayonet on the lug, it is easy to see that there is no interference.
