Description:
The PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube is the first major upgrade and improvement to the buffer tube in years! Unlike the original PWS EBT, this unit is made from impact extruded 6061 aluminum in order to keep the cost down while keeping the quality high. The Enhanced Buffer Tube will resolve any carrier tilt symptoms exhibited by a short stroke piston AR and will reduce felt recoil. The most notable features on this buffer tube include:
■One piece construction eliminating the castle nut and ensuring that when installed, the buffer tube cannot become loose.
■Attachment system automatically indexes the buffer tube perfectly straight.
■The bottom of the interior buffer tube extends a lip into the receiver, supporting the bottom rear of the bolt carrier, reducing the carrier tilt present in some piston systems.
■A dead blow buffer is securely installed in the rear of the buffer tube to reduce carrier speed by an average of 10%, and dramatically reduce felt recoil.
■Two QD sling swivel attachments are machined into the front of the buffer tube allowing ambidextrous connection of your QD slings
■The buffer tube is fluted to allow debris to be pushed out of the way, and a drain hole has been placed in the bottom of the tube, allowing for draining of water when the rifle is parallel to the ground.
The PWS Enhanced Buffer Tube is made to accept Mil-Spec stocks. Usage: For use on Mil-Spec AR-15/M16 based lower receivers and/or weapons platforms. Specifications:
■Length: 7.8″ (19.8 cm)
■Diameter 1.15″ (2.9 cm)
■Width
■1.8″ (4.5 cm) at QD points
■Weight 5.5 oz (156 grams)
Thats pretty interesting.
ETA 6 position?
I concur. And half the price of the other one.
Rainier, any idea how tite/solid a milspec CTR lock up on this thing?
will there be a model without the QD mouunts?that the regular plates can go on? very interested.

That would be a question for PWS. That option would be nice...

We'll try it out and see. Will let you know...

i have been using one for a month, CTRs lock up tight, as do ACS
I got to handle one at a shop last week, and it's amazing how light it is, and has a unique feel, I assume due to the finish and the fluting...

Magpul stocks lock up tight on this tube!
Can anyone comment on the recoil reduction, if any?
Think I might check one of these out...
I've shot mine quite a few times with this tube an have noticed no recoil reduction at all. If you're not interested in the novelty of it or concerned about carrier tilt don't waste your money !
This might be a stupid question... I'd be switching from a commercial spec tube. I know I'll need to replace the actual stock, but would I be good to go using the same buffer and spring from the commercial setup?

You are good to go with the same buffer and spring.

You are good to go with the same buffer and spring.

But you will need to swap out to a mil-spec stock body...

Unfortunately this has been my experience as well. There is no reduction in recoil and no increase in controlability.
I used mine with a DC-12 upper and still saw signs of carrier tilt.

The main benefit to me is the QD swivel attachment points that come built in for the price.
