Does anyone make a 3 prong Muzzle brake like the ones on the early M16? I live in a ban state :(

John Thomas makes the " duckbill " three prong and DPMS makes the slanted three prong.

I need a muzzle brake because a flash hider is a no no on a Ar style rifle in my state. Someone used or still does make one but the grooves were not machined out all the way. Im looking for the item on the right

That's not really a muzzle brake, it's more a fake flash hider barrel extension. It won't actually compensate any gas from the barrel. It is legal for ban states of course, just not a muzzle brake. The guy who made these went by the name of 45bravo but is no longer active. I have one of his fake birdcage flash hiders and it's great. I would guess your best bet would be to look around and see if you could hire somebody to mill one for you. Or you might be able to weld and alter a regular 3 prong so the sides are closed.

KKF used to make these...the only three prong looking muzzle brake I've ever come across, unfortunately nobody has picked up the manufacturing of these since Kurt's passing

Email John Thomas with the email I sent you, he's pretty creative and might have a solution for your problem. If not there are plenty of others on the retro forum that create things that are no longer manufactured.

You could get the 3 prong and find a rod that will fit in between the prongs, weld it and then drill it through with a larger opening than the diameter of the barrel. I don't have a welder yet but it doesn't seem like an unobtainable solution.

Do you absolutely have to have a 3-prong? Or will this faux A1 birdcage do?

That one was made by 45Bravo MPFiveO7M3@aol.com

He had a post on the Equipment Exchange that has long since gone into archive: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_119/444414_Retro_Wrenches__XM177_Grenade_Rings__XM177_Moderators__XM607_Moderators__Model_601_Duckbills__and_more.html

There were some issues concerning timely delivery, but you might get hold of him thru the e-mail link above and give it a try.

Where would one be able to find one of these? Might want to try a featurless retro build here in Commiefornia.
