I'm not offended. Nice heads up. Don't think it's for me but it has a nice retro date on it. Lot of shipping charges, must be heavy.

$28 and change for USPS Priority?

I hope that's a mistake!

Prolly not. They are heavy, cumbersome and not really worth having except as maybe a ground cloth.I had one dated 1964,but found it was more trouble then anything else.Neat item for a static display if you don't have to move it around a lot.

Exactly what he said. I have two of them hanging out at the range house.
We use them as bench pads (rarely) and ground mats for prone shooting.
They are a neat item to have around, and a lot of people seem interested in their original intended use.
But bulky and heavy to lug around.

I have a couple of those, and they are bulky and cumbersome to tote around. Cool retro items though...

Ive got a few of them things. They make a great shooting mat.
I would charge 30 or more to ship one of them. Its big and heavy.

I got a couple of these 2-3 years ago. Unboxed them and was hit with the nastiest stale canvas smell I ever encountered. They were in great condition––looked like they'd been folded up and stowed for decades––but they stunk. I hung them on the back deck for a week and they still stunk so bad I couldn't take them inside. I tried hitting them with Fabreze or something like that––it had no effect. I finally ended up hanging them unfolded in a corner of the garage. They were still offensive through a couple seasons, but over the next year or so, the odor faded.

They're fine now, but to be honest, I've never found a real use for them. Still pretty cool, though, from a retro perspective!

Yeah, what is that smell? I thought it was maybe the grease that I found all over the buckles? It is pretty strong, though.

The Ranger Digest claims vinegar will get rid of it on seabags and ponchos.

This sounds correct. I know that a mild solution of vinegar and water 50-50 will take care of mold and mildew on old leather. Shouldn't stain canvas.

Most of them that are in service are broken, and half jerry rigged to work.. Hate to think of what a surplus one is like....
