Strange Early Colt 30 62667 Mag

Here's a pic of a K1 used by the ROK with an old retro Colt 30 rounder. BUT this is different than all the others I've seen. Notice the K-D after the 62667? The K1 went into production in 1982. Anyone seen a Colt mag like this? Could this be a Korean mag stamped on old Colt machinery?

From Troy's Mag FAQ
[2-2-1-1] Early Colt 30-round Mags
––––––––-
Army and late Air Force contract mags. The first Colt 30-round mags had dark green, hard-plastic followers with Colt part number 62665A stamped in white on the follower and part number 62667 stamped on the side of the body. These followers did *not* have the lengthened front "anti-tilt" leg that later green followers have. These mags are rare and collectable, though considered unreliable by some. Made from 1967-1969. Floorplates stamped:

(Pony) COLT AR-15
CAL. 5.56 MM
COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC.
HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A

Hey, the rear sight windage wheel on that looks a lot like a 601 item! (I don't see any numbers on it.)

Darn, guess it's not too likely, though, since the K1's didn't come out till what––the mid 80s?

What's the story on the muzzle device on the Daewoo? It looks very much like an old XM177 moderator.

Very cool guns. I love how that handguard and front sight make it look like a baby FAL.

I looked at a Daewoo about 3 weeks ago at a local gun shop.
It was pretty cool looking.
Here it is.
Very nice piece.

I remember reading that the K1A muzzle device is based on the XM177E2 moderator with rebate for the bayonet.

I always thought they looked like an FNC

I wish they were still importable. When I was a kid I lusted after the ads for the K1 and K2s in Shotgun News but that was back in the 80's.

I just checked my "stash" and I have two of these mags.

Mag body is marked on right side (side without mag catch slot):

62667K-D

Floorplate is marked:

CAL. 5.56
M-16/AR-15
MADE IN KOREA

Follower is unremarkable; dull plastic.

I'll post some pics later in the week.

wow. now things get a little more interesting. i posted on falfiles about my daewoo mags and got this as a response:

"The Army had Daewoo make a lot of parts for them rather than shipping things acrosss the Pacific from the US. There is no difference between a Daewoo magazine and an M16 magazine, other than what's stamped on them. All the parts interchange."

so this would almost make it seem like the stampings were being done there on US equipment much like how all the usgi contract mags were being done on the same machines being passed around. but the KD add one would mean that they changed something. any idea what KD might stand for? Korea Defense? Korea Daewoo?

Here's some pics of my Korean mags:

Sounds to me like a Korean contract mag. the +1 mod may be the floorplate markings.
