Got a 6" excile rubber buffer tube sleeve. What's the best way to slide this on the tube? Tried hair gel, noy joy. Also seems to need an air escape to slide it on the tube since its fully enclosed on the end. Suggestions?
May want to give compressed air a try or a liquid dish soap & water combo (little heavy on the dish soap).
Critically analyze the use of things like soap. Wouldn't something such as alcohol or hand sanitizer be better? Which would evaporate best and leave the least residue?

Critcally analyze....really...Oh please this how bike shops have put aftermarket grips for years. You may want to analyse the use of alcohol and the potential of it having a chemical reaction. I used hair spray too, don't recall the brand whatever I borrowed from the wife or mom.
i loaded the inside with LSA and it slipped right on. did it thursday nite.
Let a fat woman have her way with it for about 30 min its then slide it on !!

Clean up is a must !!

Humor goes a looong way!
My favorite thing to use was hairspray. It acts as a lubricant when it goes on, and then a mild adhesive once it dries. I picked that up working at a bike shop. Another good one to try is shaving cream. Works pretty well.
