Selling off an AR Pistol or converting it to a carbine.

I have a 7.5" AR Pistol that I built a few years ago, but it quickly became a range toy and not much else. I've been hankerin' to build another carbine so I'm thinking of parting with this AR pistol or salvaging what I can.

The AR Pistol Build:

Model 1 Sales AR Pistol upper with 7.5" 1:9 barrel with railed gas block and free floating cylinder handguard. I have fixed, removable iron sights on the upper currently.
Roggio Arsenal lower receiver with Model 1 Sales AR Pistol receiver extension with foam sleeve and knurled area (cannot accept a stock).

Typically how easy is to sell off an AR Pistol? I know these have a big "cool" factor initially, but I know a lot of people would just rather go SBR. I'm trying to figure out if I should part with the upper and the receiver extension and re-use the lower for my carbine build, OR sell off the entire thing. My only concern with selling this AR Pistol are possible NFA complications if the buyer doesn't understand the law. I know this isn't really my responsibility, but who wants this stuff coming back to them in the future?

Would I stand to have much luck selling the upper to someone with a registered SBR lower? I can see that as another option.

I am fully aware that if I convert the pistol to a rifle, I cannot go back to a pistol.

There is some question about this now. Check ATF letters thread.

Personally I'd just build another AR. it's nice to have a pistol around. They are super fun.
They are not worth more than the sum of their parts however and parting it out would serve you better financially.

New ruling as of July 2011, pistol>rifle>pistol ok. The receiver must start life in a pistol configuration though!

I would just price out your new build then consider selling the pistol if you want.

There's nothing wrong with selling an AR pistol. Nothing wrong with selling just the upper. Nothing wrong with stripping it down and using the upper & lower minus the useless pistol parts (barrel & receiver extension) either.
