does size matter?

My gf would say yes, but what do you think
10.5 or 7.5 inch?
which size barrel do you prefer and why?

What we think doesn't matter...
Until you tell us;
What are YOU going to DO with it?
What caliber? 5.56? What barrel? Twist? Goals?
Are you going to be blasting 55gr at a piece of paper close enough to set it ablaze as well? Or lobbing 75+gr at a target 200yds away?
Gonna SBR it down the road?
My last two have been 7.5" and I like them short. Neither have been 5.56...

For an all around upper, the 10.5 will have better ballistics and effective range.
For a pistol build, I stay with 7.5" and understand it's effective range is under 100 yards and the concussion is greater than the 10.5"

I have a pistol in both sizes and I like the 7.5 inch best. It is just as reliable as the 10.5 inch but in a smaller package and IMO a bit more fun. Screw any notion of a ballistic advantage for my uses. Are you really going to be using your AR pistol for serious use? If so, then maybe an extra three inches matters but not if you are just burning ammo with yours like I am mine. If I am going to do any serious work the last thing I am going to grab is an AR pistol, not when there are so many better choices in the rack. YMMV.

If you want more velocity, build a rifle. If you want big fire power in a small package, smaller the better so do a 7.5". I love mine and wouldn't change it to anything larger for nothing!!

If you intend on using a suppressor with this weapon then I'd go longer. From what I understand, hardly any suppressor manufacturers will warrant their suppressors on a 7.5" barrel.

this is my concern, as I was looking at the shorter, and now considering the longer
