Which trigger for my new .308 AR build?
Topic says it all - Which trigger for my .308 AR build?
I have a JP single stage on one of my ARs, Geissele SSAs on several others, and factory AR triggers on a couple. I'm leaning hard toward Geissele SSA-E for the .308, but the Super 3-gun looks interesting. This is a build and I got an LPK without a trigger, so keeping the factory trigger isn't an option.
The rifle in question isn't a precision build. More of a "battle rifle" for lack of a better term. That said, it's got a Lilja AR10740 barrel free floated in a Troy TRX-308, which justifies a good trigger.
The Super 3 Gun is a great trigger, but it's different from the Geissele's you're used to. If you want a really short and fast reset, it's awesome and allows you to shoot very fast. Takes a little getting used to, but great for, wouldn't you know it, 3-gun. Basically there isn't a distinct second stage like there is with the other Geissele's, you pull through the first stage, there's very slight resistance and it goes bang. If you're shooting a bunch from the bench you'll get doubles unless you're careful (and probably even if you are careful truthfully) due to the very short reset, everyone who's shot my AR with the S3G trigger in it off the bench has done it.
The SSA-E is one of my favorites at the moment, hard to beat for a general purpose, do-it-all rifle. I'm also partial to the DMR, but it's more geared toward prone or bench precision-type shooting. I run a DMR in my LR-308 and like it a bunch. For the purposes you described for you 308, I'd lean toward the SSA-E personally.
I still vote SSA-E
Thanks for the replies. I should throw one more thing out there. I also mentioned it in a Geissele 3-gun thread. I have a 3.5 pound single stage JP trigger in one AR. It has no take up and very little over-travel. Very crisp. It's a great single stage trigger, but I've historically preferred two stage triggers. Geissele's 3-gun "hybrid" trigger pull might be a nice compromise. I just wish I knew someone who owned one so I wouldn't have to drop $240 plus shipping to find out
I also considered the DMR but don't need or want adjustability. I've never had any problems with my JP trigger, but I don't like the idea of set screws. That's just me. YMMV.
I like the Wilxon Combat "drop in" module. Has a 4lb trigger pull and no adjustments necessary /easy install.
+1 on the Wilson Combat drop-in trigger. I have the 2-stage in my .308 and it was a hassle-free installation with no adjustments necessary and no screws or anything to worry about getting loose. Awesome trigger!
I use the ssa-e's in most of my rifles and have the jp with the speed hammer. I like the jp best....
+1 Wilson 2-Stager. That's what's in my MATEN.
Hogan Gold Standard Trigger is what came standard in my H-308. I love it and have had many compliments on it when friends have shot it at the range.
I ended up going with the Geissele High Speed DMR. Thanks for the replies.

I use this and it's an amazing trigger. I highly recommend it.
