 Timney trigger on 5.45?

Does anyone have experience with this? I'm currently on a PSA lpk with a heavy hammer spring so my trigger is way to heavy.

I know the Geissele SSA-E works but the timney is a tad cheaper and a single stage.

I'll also be using this in my M&P 15-22 with a slide fire and being one solid unit will make transferring a lot easier.

I just installed a Timney trigger in my 5.45. I haven't shot it yet, but plan to do so this coming middle of this week. Hopefully someone will post their experience here before then, but if not I'll report back what happens.

Good to hear.

I know the spikes battle trigger does NOT work. Tried that already from one of my other guns.

You still need the heavier spring with the Spikes battle trigger for 5.45.

Doesn't work with that either. Tried it already.

Sounds like you need to try a new firing pin or bolt. Something is out of spec.

I have a spikes 5.45 bcg. Keep in mind I'm shooting nothing but surplus.

I've never had a FTF with my PSA lpk and heavy hammer spring.

I feel your need for a better trigger on a 5.45 AR. I haven't tried the Timmney myself, but have heard good things and I'm saving for one.

Ok. I took my 5.45 AR with newly installed Timney trigger to the range this evening, and can report the following;

The Hornady V-MAX ammo worked flawlessly. 100% reliability. Of course, this is the more expensive "made in USA" 5.45x39 ammo, which apparently has softer primers and gives exceptional accuracy, btw.

Silver Bear ammo averaged (5) mis-fires per (25) rounds.

Russian military surplus ammo would not fire. Those primers must be made of cast iron.

Anyway, as a result of this test, I am putting the original trigger back in my 5.45 AR and putting the Timney in either my BCM, or Bushmaster.

someone here suggested using RRA 2-stage with the standard hammer spring.

i went this route and as of yet have had no light stikes, this is with russian 7n6. couldn't be happier.

I woudn't, I had a timney I installed in a AR15 and with my 68's and SSA ammo with hard primers I had a lot of failures, I put in the 308 spring and it cut it back a little but I still had failures, I switched and had no more issues.

I have SSAs (not enhanced) in my 5.45 rifles and they work great.

I have a Timney in my S&W M&P15-22 with slide fire but still have some failures to reset trigger.

Geissele SSA is the best option.

I would try taking .007 off of your firing pin flange if you don't want to spent $180 on a trigger.
