AGP Arms Lower
Everything I read says these are really nice forged lowers. I've been waiting for them to come in stock and they finally did this morning so I ordered one. Somebody must like them because when I went back to the website this afternoon and they were already sold out.
Anybody here use one of these for a build? What did you think of it?
I have one and I love it. I actually drove down there and met the employees, nice guys. Big ole bolt face sticker right on the door.
I have a bunch of their lowers, but they sadly loosened up their fit tolerances a few years ago. I buy Nodak Spud lowers now, which is a shame - the AGP ones were really nice.

When did this happen?
I have 2 that are sbr'd and they have both been great...
Sometime between my second and third order - prior to May 2011. What they told me at the time when I asked about why my newest ones were a loose fit to every upper I owned:
"We've adjusted them a little looser so they fit all the uppers for sure. We use to push it so on a perfect upper they would fit tight. Problem was that uppers that were slightly off prefect but still within spec, would not fit.
They tighten up with spring pressure of a loaded mag pushing up on the bottom of the bolt. But beyond that one of those rubber accuwedge things."
Sorry, not what I paid for.
Mine were ordered well before then so that explains it.
It is too bad that they would degrade their product just because some other manufacturers were building to loose specs

At least that's how I see it.
I have built 5 lowers up using AGP lowers. I won't buy anything else. They rock! I have 2 pre-US flag and 3 USflag lowers and everyone one of them is tight and went together very easily.
They still haven't shipped mine yet. I called last week and they said the lowers were going out for anodizing and should ship this week.
I'm not sure why after a long period of being out of stock, then finally coming "in stock", that they are just now sending them out for anodizing.
Not too thrilled to read the replies above that they've loosened them up now either. I'm starting to think I should have just bought an AP or PSA for less money. Maybe when I finally get it these reservations will prove unfounded.
AGP Arms is what I used on my first AR15 build. I love it and it looks fantastic. Putting the LPK in was a breeze and everything fit very well. I've only put probably about 700 rounds through it, but I haven't noticed it getting loose on me.
Did AGP arms actually get looser or is this just internet heresay?

See the quote from an email sent to me from Kevin at AGP in my post above.
EDIT: I want to be clear that AGP is an excellent company to work with, and the lowers appear to be in spec - it's just that they made a conscious decision to change the dimensions affecting upper to lower fit more toward the middle of the spec rather than how they used to be. All other aspects of fit and finish have always been superb, and up until they changed I talked them up a *lot*. If they went back to their old tolerances I'd go back to them in a heartbeat.
The lower finally shipped! I should have it next Wednesday.
