Chrome bolt/carrier groups, DPMS vs R-Guns vs Spikes vs RRA vs Who else??

So I'm going to toss a chrome bolt group into a future pistol (into SBR) project I'm working on and have just started looking around at options. So of course I'm trying to be as thrifty as possible and I've found a couple of options. Does anyone run or have knowledge of the DPMS chrome groups? I've read a lot of conflicting info on them. Really, any advice would be great on who to look at and to avoid, I'm also thinking about trying to swing an upgrade to chrome when I buy a full upper receiver (likely from Adco, Spikes or BCM).

I prefer Young Mfg Chrome BCG, they have many different flavors, M16, Ar15, serrated, non serrated, etc.

+1. Look up the specs, they can't be beat and the price is good. Ranier is a great company too, they have become my favorite vendor.

You do realize they arent actually CHROME right? They are hard chromed to give a "slicker" finish and makes cleaner a snap. I can put 100rds on my Young BCG and simply wipe it off and its like new.

Understood there, but I'm looking for the ease of cleaning and because I don't have one in a rifle yet! That Rainier T Bolt looks like a pretty slick setup.

I have used RRA chrome bolt & carriers for the last three varmint/target guns I've built. I prefer to use them with stainless barrels. They tend to run smoother when warm.

Just my experience.

I'm partial to NiB coated ones myself, but if I was to buy a chrome one it'd be from Rainier.

Young nm bolt. Pricey but in the ee time to time for around the same price as a parked bolt. Plus it has a lot of other good features.

I have a Spikes chrome BCG that is the cats meow. Was a time when hard chrome was the only other option out there, next one I'll try out is a NiB one. Looks like that is better then the HC anymore. I like how technology is helping the AR and many other weapons out.

Prefer Young's / Les Baer chrome NM carriers. Have about a half dozen of them. Superb workmanship.

Original specs called for chrome, that was canned for costs. Chrome is definitely better then phosphate.

Have Spikes chrome and like it, use it on duty rifle, works just fine. I hear people say chrome sucks, I hear people say Nib sucks, think quality is the number one thing.

Count me in as another happy owner of a Spikes hard chromed BCG.

Speaking of...I want to build a rifle using Rainier's no foward assist flattop upper. Young Mfg. will build a NM bolt carrier without the forward assist serrations, if you specify it in your order.
