Man, you M400 guys are killing me. I get jealousy pangs every time I see one.

That fantastic lower is completely lost on you righties. That ambi-catch and safety is like $120 in upgrades alone. I honestly think that the Sig M400 is the best bang-for-buck rifle on the market today, and has the added bonus of being widely available to see and fondle at local big box stores before you buy.

Congrats, but we need a range report.

Even my local Walmart have Sig rifles now and I'm wondering if they're good to go.

I run a couple of Sig516 uppers and they are very good. Can't speak to M400s from experience.

Very nice. You will love it. I have one just like yours - well, DID have one like yours. I replaced all the furniture with Magpul stuff, and a Magpul MBUS. I have just over 1,000 rounds through mine and have yet to have any problems. Great rifle.

Oh, that's a low blow. You play dirty.

Actually, I'd probably get two... and they'd probably be a pretty close match of your picture.

Anyone who is contemplating it, get one. Mine has been fantastic. Every brand/type of ammo I've thrown at it, it has gulped down happily. Utterly reliable so far, one FTF out of a LOT of rounds(that was today, WPA ammo).

Just got back from shooting it, sighting in with my new TRS-25, still grinning.

So far it shoots like my p228, compleatly reliable. SIG has always had very good equipment, thats why I decided to go with the m400. 25k round down the tube on my p228 and not one issue. I have only fired about 100 rounds out of it, came sighted in from factory.
I will keep you guys updated on what I do to it from here.

Those are some hot ARs.

I like how beefy the lowers look, too.

Broken, what mount is that TRS25 on?

And how do you like the Bushnells?

It's on a UTG mount, 1" tall. The consensus on the interwebz seems to be that it's the best option on the cheap. It works quite well, and is built solidly for being ChiCom stuff. The 1"(tall) riser sets you up for lower 1/3 cowitness, while the .83"(medium) allows absolute.

I just sighted in the Bushy yesterday. It's built like a tank. Sure, it's no Aimpoint, but it has rave reviews all over the place. We were hitting golf balls pretty consistently and 3" targets consistently at 40-50 yards after < 12 rounds sighting it in.

The only complaint/con in comparison to the PA micros is that the position of the diode inside the Bushnell's sight tube can/does obscure the sight picture. I didn't have any issues with that myself, using lower 1/3; and that's where you'd run into trouble if anywhere.

Broken: Yeah man, I love my TRS25. I'll have to pick one of those UTG risers up. And yeah, I know what you mean about the diode inside the can, but it doesn't bother me either.

Proconsul: For 90 bucks it seems like a nice little red dot. An Aimpoint Micro with a Daniel Defense riser is pretty hardcore, but for killing paper plates and soda cans my TRS25 has done everything I've asked of it on both my AR15 and my .22 pistol.. :D

Picked up an M400 from my local shop this weekend. 20" barrel, Magpul furniture.

Just after the initial cleaning.

First run with lake city arsenal 55gr.

Running a Millet 1-4x25mm on it, but I believe I'll be switching it out for something a little clearer. At 4x magnification, that scope is rather blurry. Then there's the eye relief, which is unforgiving to say the least.

All in all, the rifle is more accurate than I am. I still managed a couple of nice groups at 100y, though.

Thanks, I'm all about good but cheap optics since I just can't afford to put ACOGs and Aimpoints on everything. How is the parallax?

I have had good experience with everything sold by Primary Arms - good battery life, great reliability and zero hold, very little parallax that I can detect. But they are sold out on their M3s and green dot reflexes, and their micro bundle with killflash and riser runs $180ish. I have found Sig Sauer mini STS-081s at my local store (Tanners in Jamison) for $99 with kill flash but no riser, which is a screaming bargain but they are only intermittently in stock. I buy the UTG risers too.

On the other hand, I've bought absolute junk too. The NCStar reflex sight, and an NCStar mini-reflex were both godawful. Enough parallax to be no better than shooting blind, and the zero would move around like a lazy eye. It's made me a bit leery of buying other stuff, which is the only reason I haven't tried out a Bushnell or other bargain sight yet. If you have any experience comparing it to a Sig or PA, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Nice I was thinking of getting one also. But primary arm ones are not to much more. Have you owned a primary arms one? If so which do you prefer?

To the above, I can't make my own comparison. I owned a PA micro green reflex for a short time, but didn't use it on a firearm. Touchy feely impressions were good though

I hate to misquote, but I recall Marshall from PA posting in another thread that the two sights were comparable, bringing up the different diode positions himself. While I can't compare them side by side, the Bushnell is solid as a rock.

Oh, the other contrast I've read about is the detents on the brightness adjustment and windage/elevation adjustments. The Bushnell's are often described as "tight," or even "too tight". I would agree that they're quite stiff, but I can't see that as a bad thing.

Love mine.

The PAs are great. I recommend without reservation.

I like the micros best for their light weight, but they are priciest at $180 for a set.

For sheer value, the M3 red dot is $69+10 for a cantilever mount, and no-brainer easy to buy at that price. You can't get a killflash for the M3s.

The M4s are the worst of the set. They have integrated mounts that make them harder to mount forward or in conjunction with a magnifier. They take AA batteries though, and have an optional killflash.

The multi-reticle versions are probably worth the extra dollars. I like the circle-dot best.

I have a primary arms micro dot on my M400 and it works great

I have a Burris XTS-135 red dot on my Colt. I have another waiting to go on my Sig. They run $249 retail, but Midway has them on sale for $199. They are great red dots. 11 settings. Made in South Korea and used by ROK military.

The Burris is very similar to the S.P.O.T. red dot that has been discussed at length on this board. Someone did a torture test of the scope and ended up breaing his rifle before breaking the scope. Here's the post, less the photos that went with it.

Well my girlfriend shot the AR and decided she likes SIG so she picked up one of the 1911's. I must say I'm green with envy, looks really good next to the AR. So I took some more pictures. Its the tac-pac with the laser, its a damn nice handgun.
