I know the 6940 has a monolithic top, but can the quad rail be switched out? I want something a little longer. Looking at the Larue PredatAR, Stag and a few others already set up with longer rail. But I've always wanted a Colt. I

A monolithic upper is where the receiver and rail are all one piece.
The rail cannot be taken off the receiver.

the receiver and railed handguards are machined from a single piece of aluminum.
you can't replace it.

if you want a colt, get a 6920/6721/6720 and install the rail you want.
the LE6920 Socom II and the LT6720-R come with a longer non-monolithic rail from the factory.

The only way to make it longer would be to replace the whole upper

Where is the tactical Enfield when you need it

The rifles you mention are not monolithic, they have seperate quad rails from the receiver. Just get a 6920 and add the rail of your choice. My 6920 has a Daniel Defense RIS II which is about 5 inches longer than the 6940 rail

I think you might also be confused about the nature of a "quad rail." If the 6940 only had the top rail for the monolithic receiver, you'd be replacing the tri-rail, like on a Bushmaster ACR (sides and bottom). As the 6940 is, the top and sides are all one piece with the receiver, the bottom section is removeable for maintenance or M203 mounting
