"F" Height Front Sight Base
Front sight bases come in two basic varieties. One is the front sight base intended for use on carbines and rifles with fixed A2 uppers, the other (The "F") is intended for carbines with flattop uppers. In order to ensure compatibility with the various aftermarket rear back up iron sights, the "F" is more desirable. Not all "F" height front sight bases are marked with the "F" (LMT for example), and some that are marked are not true to the correct height.

That is NOT what that stands for. That marking is just a forge code. I'm pretty sure that it's located on the right side of his FSB, while the "F" marking that signifies that the FSB is F-height is located on the left side.

Here's one of my FSB's. It's normal height, not F-height:

I looked it up and it means something is less than B and B is greater than 1.

I'm not sure what it means but my LMT 14.5" is marked <B>2 w/ no markings on the other side and no F to be found anywhere.

A safe bet would be that it's a forge code.
