Hello,

Since I have not come across much on the Sabre XR-15, I thought I would post some pictures of my new carbine.

The rifle is a 5.56mm Sabre Defence XR-15 (model #90243) with a 14.5" chrome lined barrel (1/7 twist). The rifle comes with a soft case, cleaning kit, sling, and cable lock. It does not come with a carrying handle or BUIS. (The carrying handle pictured here is a spare.)

The fit and finish is very nice except for a couple of nit picks:

1) There is a small gouge in the side of the lower receiver, just aft of the bolt release.
2) The etching on the barrel isn't the nicest I've seen.

More to follow after I take her to the range.

Best Regards,

Nice Stick. Is the engraving on the barrel look squiggly or is it just the photo??

You would think they could invest in a template. Still a nice stick though.

I have a Sabre upper and the barrel engraving is similar... It's ok with me knowing where it came from and the fact it was done by hand.

Very nice! I have a Sabre barreled 14.5" mid-length & I've gotten nothing but excellent performance out of it.

Nice, I like those lowers a lot. Too bad you can only them with complete rifles. I guess I'll have to buy a Sabre 20" A3 in the near future.

BTW What did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

The rifle was $993 (shipped) from Bud's.

Great rifle. If I ever need to buy another AR it will be a Sabre.
I just put one of their 11.5" barrels on my SBR.

A quick update on Sabre's customer service...

Sabre's Director of Sales and Marketing sent me an email and made an unsolicited offer to re-stake the bolt carrier key and replace the lower receiver. Sabre requested that I send the entire rifle to them so they could "ensure the new lower is a perfect fit." They even offered to arrange for the shipping.

Now I understand why they have repeat customers.

UPS delivered my XR-15 yesterday. Sabre re-staked the bolt carrier key and replaced the lower receiver. Many thanks to Mike and Rick at Sabre Defence for the outstanding customer service.

I picked up an upper with a 20" Sabre stainless barrel. It is marked 410 stainless, 1:8, 223. Anyone ever hear of a 223 marked sabre barrel? It is fluted. Toward the base of the barrel, you can tell it was some pretty thick stock they turned down. The barrel looks kind of like a reamer. Shoots fine so far. Looks like it has YHM hand guards. The A4 upper receiver does not have any numbers between the rail marks. Don't know if it is Sabre or not. came with Arms 40L rear and a YHM front buis.

Nice pics, love mine. I bought an XR-15A3, M4 flat top tactical in 2007. It's got a Samson quad rail, YHM flip up front sights (came with YHM rear flip up, but I upgraded it to Diamonhead rear). Ergo grip (Ordered the new Ergo suregrip from La Rue) SOCCOM Ace stock (Love it, very solid), 14.5 in. M4 profile barrel with chromed lined, 1:7 twist,.

I added an Emdom battle sling, Magpul ladder rail covers (My La Rue rail covers are coming with my new grip), a Magpul extended trigger guard, MI quick detach forward side sling mount, and a Trijicon Tripower sight, and a Bravo Company/VLTOR Mod 4 charging handle.

Out of the box this rifle was a tack driver. It's my daily patrol rifle and entry tool for SWAT. I have never had any issues with it, except for some ammo I bought from Sportsman's Guide and had a few misfeeds with that ammo. other then that, it works everytime and I love shooting it. You will be pleased. Definitely worth every penny I paid for it.

They make wonderful rifles.

I have heard they have great customer service too. It is also too bad that their good service is the exception instead of the rule. Other companies should take note. Sabre can show them how it is done.

I bought two stripped Sabre lowers and one complete A2-style Sabre lower two years ago. Great stuff.
