RRA LAR-8 Polymer magazine problem!
I ordered 4 polymer LAR-8 mags off of RRA's website:
LAR-8 Polymer 20 Round Mag, .308 Caliber
After a backorder issue, the magazines arrived a few weeks after the order went through. I received them all a few days ago, and tried them out in my LAR-8. Unfortunately, all 4 of them are (pardon my lack of proper wording/terms) not engaging the magazine "catcher" when they are pushed in. I have tried easing them in, rocking them in, and giving them a good slap, but nothing works. The mags aren't held in place and will fall right out of the gun. When I look at the magazine release, it is moving up slightly when i force the magazines a bit, but not enough to "lock". This was done with unloaded magazines. I still have the original metal mag (I believe it is a FAL mag) and it locks in place just fine.
Is this a known issue or should I return them to RRA? Thanks for any help!
If I may hitch a ride on this thread.
Now that the polymer mags are shipping, is it safe to say that they are an in-stock product that ships shortly after being ordered? I want to order two of them as I don't know of any local dealers who carry them in the Twin Cities.
Yes, they are in stock.
Because of modifications made ot the magwell over time, the polymer mags may need to be slightly modified for some rifles. We made the magazines to fit the vast majority of rifles shipped to date, but some (inlcuding mine) have a slightly tighter magwell. Our techs/customer service folks have a diagram they can send with the necessary (easy) mods. 866-980-7625, ask for technical or customer service. It'll also be on the RRA website shortly.
