I'm giong to place an order for a .308 upper but can't decide if I should get the 16 midlength or 20 inch barrel. What is most popular. I 'll be using it to hunt and shoot at targets. MC
im pretty partial to my 20 inch barrel , but I dont have free float rails with a bunch of stuff hanging off or a bull barrel. just curious you say your buying a 308 upper what kind of lower are you planning on using.
JWB47 I'm ordering a complete lower LAR-8 FROM Rock River through a friend of mine who has a FFL. I have a C&R but can't order it myself as the receiver is the gun.
I'm just curious what most people order between the 16 and 20 inch barrel. I'm leaning toward the 20. MC
The LAR 8 is a beast. The difference in lost velosity wasn't a deal breaker for me so I chose the 16".

I purchased an lar-8 new in the blue box from the local fun shop for 1050.00 out the door . I was just curious about the lower. I also have a C&R because here in missouri thats what is required for ownership of nfa items..
now after i have jumped through hoops to get my license I understand that is going to go away and no longer be required .
Haven't placed the order yet for the upper as I'm going back and forth on exactly what I want on the upper. Figured I'd get exactly what I wanted on the upper rather than get an upper and then start changing out or replacing items on it, pay once cry once. MC
I wish they would offer an 18" barrel, I have quite a few FAL's (308) and there is a noticable difference in felt recoil and muzzle blast between the 21", 18" and 16" barrels.
I would get the 20" LAR-8 if I had to choose between 16" or 20"
