Seems retro-fitting my current BDM mags with compatible followers requires some warranty-voiding modifications. Is BDM planning to make compatible mags in the future?
I would also be interested. I don't like the idea of needing a special bolt catch because that would require a dedicated lower. The drop in kit is much more appealing to me, but I really want the external slider like what will be on the gen III BDM mags.
we have our own bolt hold open feature in the gen 3 steel feed lip mags, the follower has a tab on it that can activate the BHO device that SPIKE has, you dont need all the extra parts like the cmmg platform
Is the BHO on Spike's website? I've looked a few times and can't find it.

Is this the one that is a modified bolt release? The one with that tab sticking off the release to catch the follower?
If that is the case, I run my .22 upper on a common lower... one that I also use with a 5.56 and a .410 upper. If I had a dedicated .22 lower, I'd be all over it, but not if that is the setup I'm thinking of (if I'm wrong, please tell me so I can take a look at it). The extra parts work ok for me, since it doesn’t mean I have to punch out a pin to convert.
I still will be using my BDM magazines with the CMMG kit.

This sounds like a winner. I'd be interested in going this route because;
1) The CMMG system is unreliable, working most of the time, but often failing when it is most important not to (I'm running 2 of them, 300 to 400 rounds or more a week, very disappointing even after careful adjustment).
2) A dedicated catch in the lower would restrict that lower from being readily swapable to centerfire.
3) My plastic feed lip BD's only seem to last about 3500 to 4000 rounds before stove piping becomes an issue.
Really looking forward to trying one of these mags.
