 TacSol barrel issue

I will assume since there was a merger, TacSol posts are to go here...

Any way, I noticed in my TacSol barrel that there seems to be a slight expansion for about 1/4" and the rifling seems to be gone as well. What could be the cause of this? I am not aware of any major issues, other than a few FTF's in the break in and a few FTE's. I first noticed it tonight, and it has had 300 rounds or so since cleaning, so within the last 300 rounds something must have happened.

Any clues?

Can I get a better, more detailed explanation? Expansion where? Rifling seems to be gone where in the entire barrel?

Pic may help as well.

I have a .22 upper and will look. It hasn't been 100% reliable, but getting closer the more I fire it. Until the e clip fell off as I smoothed it on a brass wire wheel and removed the unspent .22 cartridge from the lower

I will do my best to get a picture, but it is a .22 barrel...

There is about a half moon section that appears to be effected about 2-3" in and the rifling seems to be gone in that section.

No shit - never seen that - it could be a bad barrel. I'd send it on back. Let me go check my .22 barrel before anything and hopefully a few TAC-SOL owners could do the same.

Call and ask them . . . .

My concern is that I have around 2k rounds through it, but for a .22, that is a weekend to some. I know someone with an m16 that has obliterated a .22 tacsol without issue.

I am just hoping it doesnt become my problem at such a low round count.

update: They told me I may have had a squib round, but I disagree as all rounds were in the berm or on target (steel). They gave me an RA number, so I dont know what they are gonna do. I assume nothing but inspect and send it back to me.

You can call Tac Sol with any issues and will take care of it.

They used in in FA and kept shooting as fast as mags could be swapped.

They'll look at it and make it right. Give them a chance.

I may be a little off on this but TacSols are not made for FA. They will not function with FA as-is and are not compatible with any available sear trip. IIRC the project was scrapped due to reliability issues so if you got someone who made it work, let TacSol know. I am sure they would like to know how it was done.

Whatever issues you are having they will make right.

I do not know what internals were in it, just that they had the lined aluminum barrel I do. I know Spikes makes FA parts for the conversion bolts, but again, I do not know.

And yes, I sent the barrel in tonight, lets see what happens. I miss it already...

The 10/22 charger barrels will handle full auto. I have a Norrell pack.
I did have the steel liner push forward after about 500 and TacSol fixed the barrel for free.
I have put more than 5K through mine since without a single problem.
TacSol will treat you right.

How many more rounds do I need to shoot to wear it out?

More than I can afford I imagine.

They told me I had two squibs in the barrel. They replaced it anyway.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not the most educated person as far as the barrels go.

Kevin is currently hunting in Africa until April 30th. He will be on here as soon as he gets back to answer questions! You might try the Tactical Solutions "contact us" page. Here is the link:
