Can I open them up and remove the block to convert them to 26rds or do I need to change the springs?

you can remove the block as long it is legal where you live, no need to change the spring.

TY I'm in Florida and I'm pretty sure they would let me tow a howitzer on the interstate.....so removing the block is not a biggie. Something told me the springs were the same.

technically yes, 25 if you keep the thingy in there to hold the bolt open after the last rd.
