Thinking about a PA micro dot on my Mossberg and was wondering if anybody has some real range time with this set up. I'm concerned about the device holding up to the shock of a 12g.

Lastly, any advise on which one fits on a LaRue mount without a riser?

Best response gets my thanks, a Dillo, and a sticker swag package for your time and trouble. I'll be making my purchase(s) Monday at noon so I'll IM the winner then for their addy.

It will hold up. If you have any issues, they are tops in CS and will take care of you.

Short Shotgun, PS90 & AK (LT661) is the mount you want. Described as:

QD Mount for Aimpoint Micro Sight. Gets the Micro down low to use on Shotguns, PS90's and AK's

Between LT and PA, they can hook you up.

I would double check with PA to be certain the optic will fit the mount. They will know.

Best of luck, pics when you get it set up and thanks for the generous offer as well.

Thanks Cpt. already have an LT 661 mount on the way. On the red dot, do I get the fixed base or the removable one?

Anybody else? Think I have a reputation of giving away some cool stuff when the mood hits me.

Hey Brother,

No Exp on the 12GA front, but I am looking to get one of these for my Pops .50 Cal Black Powder rifle... I started a thread on that a few mons ago (No replies as of yet)...

My AAR this far on the Microdots and the Mounts is, that I have two of these both on LT-660 mounts.. Both fit perfect, removed the stock mount and had the new LT mount each in less that 5 minutes... More like 1.5 Min each....

The 1st one I got is one my 12" Stealth and the second one is on a little 9mm Beretta CX Storm Rifle...

I've had the 12" Stealth out several times and the took the Beretta out for its maiden voyage this weekend...

Both Microdots were set in with just a few shots at 25 then 50 Yards....

After getting them pretty muchh where I want them they seem to be holding Zero...

Even took one off and put it back on, no loss. Also Accidently, dropped one off the bench and it hit the concrete, no movment...

I've let several people look through them and shoot them and they really liked them.

My only complaint is that I have to crank them up to 5 or 6 (out of 0-10) to be able to see them... I would think 2-3 should be sufficient, but not so much...

I really like mine so far and would buy them again if I had to do it over... I'm toying with the idea of adding a Glock Micromount and one of these to an Extra G22 I have, just not sure how I'd like the optic bouncing back in fourth on the slide each chot...

Really, I think it depends on what your going to do with the rifle or pistol it goes on...

Range or hunting or Comps, I'm 100% confident...

For a LE or MIL use, I think I'd want Aimpoint or Eotech.... I have not had these Microdots long enough and don't have that type of Experience to be able to make that leap... I'd have to defer to others at that have been in those places and tried these optics under such conditions... I'd actually, like to see some such reviews...

For now, I'm saving a few bucks, buying some more ammo and having a shit ton of fun with them.

I think I have posted pics of them before, but if you need them, I can get'em again for ya!!!

I know my post doesn't give you any feel on a 12 ga bassis, but I hope it helps somewhat...

Both of mine I got the Removable base, as I wanted to remove it and put on the LT mount.... Which I think costs more than the optic...

You deffinitly do, but No swag needed here, I'm glad to help you out out if I did...

First off, congrats on the Mossy. I've taken grief since the '70's from the 870 folks but my 500 has never let me down.
I don't know the width of the receiver rail of the the 500 but the Micro is so adjustable that I bet that it fits your needs. I would go with no mount, it's lower. You want to go with as much bore-line-of-sight as you can.

As far as recoil, my Micro rides on a 7.62 AK. You aren't going to have any probs with a 12ga. Think .45acp compared to .44 mag. I trust it on both.

I don't have any LaRue swag, just because his products have not coinsided with the platforms that I run.

Mark's pro-American stance & the quality products he produces all contribute to the fact that I would display & use anything affiliated with him proudly.

The most important thing is to get you set up properly and if I have contributed in that aspect I consider that reward enough.

But I damn sure could use a cool bottle opener and a bumper sticker to piss off the Lefty wing-nuts!

Might have a winner here. If it helps, here's the weapon in questions

I'm replacing the rear ghost ring sight with this from Aimpro Tactical

And I have the LT 661 mount on the way as well

I have the 18.5 slugster barrel and it has a dinky flip-up rear sight. I don't ever flip it up, I use the flat of the receiver and the front blade just like when I have the much longer bird barrel with bead sight.

What I am trying to say is that you should be able to shoot even slugs pretty accurately just using that front sight through a red dot that is turned off/not working. I don't think you're gonna be able to bring that ghost-ring into play. So, if not, why have mount, mount, mount and need a giraffe's neck to utilize the RD?

I would try the RD straight on the receiver and you'll be ringing the 100yd gong with it not even turned on.

Got it today! More than generous. If you are ever in Nashville...

What config did you decide to go with or are you gonna try it a few different ways?

I got the MD-10 with killflash mounted in an LT-661. Waiting on the rail / ghost ring I ordered from Aimpro to mount on my shotty. I wanted the ghost ring with the rail so if the optic fails I can snatch it off and keep gunning.

Enjoy the Dillo Dust. I hear it's addictive

Sadly I have seen 3 fail during classes. It seems that the Aimpoint T1 is the only one that is built tough enough to withstand 12g shotguns. One might have been battery related but the other two were new with fresh batteries. One wouldn't power on at all with new batteries installed, the other came on and just blinked on and off. This was at Rob Haught classes on I believe M4' and a M1S90.

One I would consider a fluke, but three leads me to believe that they are better suited to 5.56 rifles and lesser calibers.

Sorry for the honesty, but I would rather be honest than lead you down a path and waste your hard earned money.

I should note that these were hard use high volume classes.

No, I appreciate honesty. Little late as I've already got it but I'll see what it does over the next year while it is under warranty.
