16" lightweight barrel question
Bought a 16" lightweight last night, it is not chrome bore since it does not say chrome between the fsb and muzzle. Any of you guys run them and how do they wear, cleaning a problem & how's the accuracy? Do you ever get rust in the barrel when not used over long periods of time?
Don't get too concerned about the chrome myths. I just gave my bother a rifle made in 1917, NO CHROME BORE, and the chamber and bore were perfect. That rifle spend years in a closet and then months in a garage before I rescued it. Also, WW 2 guns, many made well over 60 years ago...same deal, no rust if they received normal care.
I have AR's and other guns, with both chrome and non-chrome barrels. In all that I do, clean, shoot, etc. I can not tell any difference between them. Chrome lining was developed to combat certain problems that occurred under very extreme conditions. Chance are few people not in the military will ever experience those conditions.
Thanks for the info!
