Unexpected pleasure -- 260 barrel on the way?
DPMS,
I just got an unexpected pleasure in the form of an email notification of a UPS delivery coming my way. Are you really shipping 260 barrels now?
There was a thread pretty recently where people thought they would be waiting a year.
You will owe us a range report pronto

Yeah, except I am not really in a position financially to take advantage of this. I wasn't expecting to see this until about May. Here I am in the middle of the holiday season with all the expense that is entailed, I already have my wife pissed off with all the money I have been spending on my black rifles, and I am in the middle of buying her a new car! On top of that, I have a 300 OSSM upper that will probably be delivered in about a month.
Jon hasn't mentioned anything about barrels being available on the DPMS website's forums, like he promised.
I really hope it's true. When did you order it? I've had a rifle on order for over a year.

Just found out today that we are shipping the 24" bull barrel versions for the stripped barrel and assembly orders. Rifles are coming soon, from what I've been told, we're just waiting on the .260 and 6.5 stamped lowers to come in. We're hoping everything will be out by the end of January, but we won't be accepting new orders online until the back orders are filled.

I ordered it in late October 09. At the time, I was told to expect that it may take up to 6 months.
I diggin' this!! They beat their projection by over four months.

Lucky you.
I'm not complaining. It gave me time to build my 308 battle rifle. If I get it by mid January, I'll be happy.

I just received a call from my dealer a couple minutes ago.
My LR-260 rifle has arrived and is ready to be picked up. He was almost as surprised as me.

Great news! Congrats.
I put 35 rounds down the tube today for part one of barrel break-in. The new DPMS mags didn't want to
hold the bolt back after the last shots, but the P-Mags worked fine. I'll test my older DPMS and C-Products mags
(all reliable in my 308) during my next range trip.
It's amazine how creepy and gritty the stock DPMS trigger is.
I installed the JP Fire Control Package this evening. I've got no complaints now.
Grizz
how did it group
Most of the shots were taken at 25 and 50 yards, as I was also sighting in the irons of my 308.
I zeroed the scope at 100 meters and fired one 3-shot group, then cease fire was called and I left for the day.
The one group (which means almost nothing) was .468". I used 95 grain Hornady V-Maxes because they were cheap
for barrel break in. I used a mid range charge of H4831.....or was it IMR4350. I don't track much for the first 100 or so rounds.
I've had some 130 grain Sciroccos with mid level to a grain below max charges of H4831sc loaded up for the past 6 months.
I also plan to try some 120 grain A-MAXes. I won't try these until I've got at least 100 rounds down range.

Sounds good. I really would like to put one together down the line
