Why no "C" or forge codes on some 6520 upper receivers?

For our resident Colt experts:

I just picked up a very gently used 6520 (AR-15A2 Govt Carbine) with a serial # of LGC037XXX, The barrel is marked "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7" and has a date stamp of 05. The bolt carrier is marked with a "C". The bolt is marked "MPD". There is neither a raised "C", a forge code, nor a "triangle" proof stamp on the upper receiver. The upper receiver has M4 feed ramps.

After a search of the AR-15.com Archives and Google Images, I realize that a lack of a raised "C" or a forge code is not uncommon for the 6520. Can any of our resident Colt experts provide any info as to why Colt didn't mark the 6520 receivers as they did their other A2 models?

My 6520 is "C" and keyhole marked on the upper. It's way up near the rear sight. Birth bag date "JUN 09", ser. # LGC 047XXX.

Was yours made in Canada?

I've heard that 6520s made in Canada lack the Colt code, Diemaco never made A2 uppers so they probably sourced A2 uppers rather than have a new die made for their forgings. You'd think they'd just have the uppers supplied by Colt.

The MPD on your bolt meanst that it was made by Colt Canada (Diemaco).

can you take the BCG out and the CH and take a pic of the inside of the upper?

from straight down into the top of the upper where the CH sets, to clarify

Other than the MPD marked bolt, I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe the rifle was built in Canada. The bolt carrier is marked with a "C", not the Diemaco stylized "D". The lower is marked:

The M4 feedramps were cut into the upper receiver post-anodizing.

I will probably be swapping the non-marked upper receiver with this upper receiver:

not the angle was wanting. I meant take pic straight down, not from the rear

look inside the upper where the CH would set when the gun is in battery, and see if there is a C or any othe rmarking

There aren't any markings (that I can find) inside the upper receiver.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a 6520 made in November of 2004. The only markings on the upper are a key hole and the barrel is marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7. The bolt carrier has the C marking and the bolt has a C electro-penciled on it.....no other markings on it. Does anyone have any idea of what the complete upper w/ BCG would be worth? It is unfired and next to new condition.

i think asking for value of something is against the COC

better delete that or go to whatever forum its cool to ask in. they seem to be pretty hardcore on this
