 dynacomp erosion issue

i have a dynacomp extreme that is eroding away at the bullet exit hole in the tip.

it has around 2500rds through it in 4months, all m855 & m193. its on a 16" 5.56 barrel. pretty soon the exit hole will start to be a jagged opening instead of a perfect circle. the inner edge is now completely worn away. if it continues to erode at this rate, i would say it would need to be replaced by the time it reaches 5k rounds.

i compared it to the new one i just installed on a friends rifle, and it is really bad. i will try to post up pics in a bit.

is this normal? is this covered under the warranty?

Just toss it and have Miles send you a new one.

Pics please? I don't doubt you but I want to compare it to my own with about 4k through it.

That's the problem with the Active Topics button.

What difference does it make? Are the individual forums only for posting specific kissass remarks?

Toss it? If it's pinned and welded to a 14.5" barrel this could get kinda tricky.

This forum belongs to Spikes Tactical, it is not general discussion. The OP was looking for an answer to a question not a smart ass remark to go buy someone elses product.

No, plenty of complaints made and handled in Industry Forums, but posting crap like semperserverance did is blatant trolling and uncalled for.

back to the topic at hand

why did it erode so soon? what does that mean in terms of accuracy? and how does one fix this if it were pinned and welded?

All closed front muzzle brakes can erode. It's caused by the blast and un-burnt powder hammering it every time you pull the trigger. Shorter barrels can be very harsh on a muzzle brake, XM193 and M855 are also harsh on a muzzle brake. If one of our muzzle brakes erode we will replace it, if it's pinned to a barrel we will remove it and re-pin a new one in place, no big deal.

Tom, you do realize that the standard answer to this is "normal wear, you'll have to buy another" right?

You guys kick ass.
